Differences in 2008 and 2009 Turbo

I am in the market for 997.1 Turbo, beside PCM 3.0 in 2009 model year, what are the differences between 2008 and 2009 model year. Thanks in advance my 6speeder friends.

no other difference.

I'm not sure about the tiptronic. There may have been some gearbox tweaks. For 6MT, just the pcm

The 2009 has PCM 3.0 while the earlier 997 TT cars have PCM 2.1. Ventilated seats were an option in the 2009 cars too.

Maybe he'll ask in another post about the 997.2 but he asked about 997.1 differences.

I would still go with a .2 which is a better car all around than a .1. I know it is my opinion but that is based on owning three .1 turbo's of varying different options levels and my current .2 which is so much better it is like a totally different car.

I thought 997.1 has Mezger engine and it is a proven winner engine as for reliability. I am not sure if 2010 has the same engine.
90sundevil - would you care explain more on your view about 997.2 Turbo. I've read somewhere in this forum about the debate of 997.2 vs 997.1 engine reliability. As far as I understand 997.2 has better suspension, PCM and more hp but it's not Mezger engine correct???? Thank you
Everyone else's who own 997.1 or 997.2, please feel free to chime in. I am not that far off to pick up a 997.2, just thought 997.1 is more proven and better reliability.
Also, my next turbo must have 6speed manual transmission

Well, the PDK is superior to the Tip and with the how quick these cars are getting you may never see a 6/7sp in one ever again, well you might it will just be in your rear view mirror. The car has better handling, lights, direct injection engine, improved turbo's, more HP and Torque and did I say 3.8 liters to just name a few things. I was a manual man but after driving that PDK it is amazing and the car is much quicker and I traded in my 6sp Turbo that day. I have only driven it in auto a few times but this car in auto with sport plus it is a rocket from a stop light. I find myself diving the car in sport plus manual 99% of the time. I am not sure about reliability but I have not heard of anybody on here blowing a motor when not tuned for either, both seem to be very reliable and durable. If there have been motors that have blown there are very few.

P.S. I saw a 2011 Turbo with a 6sp, but don't remember where.

I had a 2009 and lost her. Went into a 2007. Same car as all have said away from the PCM. If you are considering a 2008 certainly consider a low mileage 2007. They are out there and you can save a little on the car that can go towards mods. Additional, many of the 2007-2008 vintages already have exhausts so you may get lucky.

Enjoy the hunt.

I have a 997.2. I found a 6 speed manual. They are out there. It may take some time but worth the wait.

Check out my .1 to .2 comparison thread. Many differences and totally worth the money to go .2. I wanted an 09,but bought an 08 a while ago. The 11 is a much better car. Also, an 09 is very rare, many more 07 and 08s were built.

I found a pristine 2008 TT with less than 10k, it has Adaptive Sport Seat, PCCB, Sport Chrono, 6speed, Premium Bose, Parking sensor, Heated Seats and a few minor options MSRP $142,500. Prolly getting it for $77k MAX, but a lot of people mentioning 2009 is BETTER, but if only the PCM 3.0 is the biggest advantage then it is very minor to me (I don't listen to music while driving anyway). I always have my window down and listening to my 2008 C2S revving while driving with music OFF. This is gonna be my weekend toy and planning to keep it FOREVER (I said this to my last C2S, M6, M3, C63) oh well may be not forever but at least 5 years. 997.2 has DFI and new suspension and PDK but PDK cost $12k to replace, suspension is not a big deal in Hawaii, plus the legendary Mezger engine was my number one reason to buy 997.1 and not 997.2
