My visit to ES Motors aka Emres Shop - My Impression
Before I begin this post I want everyone to know that I don't own a single part or tune from Emre. I actually have another companies Xpipe and tune on my car so this "visit report" has no strings attached.
So I personally think there are many folks in the United States that have a "guarded" view of performance shops in Europe. I know I personally shy away from European shops even though I live in Stuttgart Germany just because there is that worry or fear that if there is an issue it can be much more difficult to resolve.
So let me get to the meat of this post....I was on vacation taking a cruise from Italy to Greece and Turkey last week. The day before we were to arrive in Istanbul I messaged Emre asking if it was ok for me to come by his shop on 18 or 19 December. He didn't hesitate and said we were more than welcome. He gave me his address and personal cell number in case we had trouble locating his shop. We arrived in Istanbul a little late and weren't able to get to his shop on the 18th like I had planned but my wife, daughter and I loaded into a cab on Friday 19 December and headed over to his shop.
When we arrived we were sad to learn that Emre had to run to Greece that day for business so we weren't able to meet him but we were greeted by his partner Ibrahim (Sorry if that is spelled incorrectly).
When we walked in I was struck by a few things:
1. Organization
2. Activity
3. Craftsmanship
I have been in probably 100+ performance shops all over the world and while ES Motors is not enormous in physical size, they are enormous in work ethic. The shop consisted of about 5-6 technicians that were very busy working hard on 2 customer cars (one was a TT Lambo and the other was a 997 Turbo that had been made to look like a GT3). I have also never seen such a well kept shop. Every tool was used, cleaned and put back where it belonged....it honestly looked like how an aircraft mechanic does business.
When Ibrahim started to walk us around the shop and showed us their upgrade tiptronic transmission, their CNC developed intake for the TT Lambo or their amazing CNC intake for the 997 Turbo I realized that this was not just a shop that resells others work, these guys are doing cutting edge development and design.
These guys truly know their stuff and have an amazing PASSION for what they do.
They talked about how they worked to develop the products they had and also hinted that they are excited to get started on the DFI engine in the near future.
Now, I was impressed but I think the true measure of how good this shop is came from my wife. Ibrahim had one of his guys go get a set of 997 Turbo headers and X pipe that was still under that final stages of construction. When they brought the parts out my wife said "Oh my God, look at the quality of those welds". Even she could see that a true craftsman had done the TIG welding including smoothing the inside of the header and exhaust tubes.
After about 1.5 hours of bugging them, we finally headed back to the ship to head to our next port and my wife once again reinforced what I was thinking when she said "You should sell the exhaust that we have on the Turbo right now and buy Emres exhaust, the quality of workmanship is amazing."
So with that said I will close with a couple points and some pictures:
1. Thank you to Emre and Ibrahim for letting us come bother you guys. The offer I made stands that if you guys are in Stuttgart please let me know, dinner is on me!
2. If you live in the US, don't be afraid of getting parts or tune from ES Motors. The craftsmanship is equal or better than anything I have seen come out of the US. Plus Emres prices are so much more reasonable than those shops in the US.
3. Traffic in Istanbul is horrible....holy cow I cant imagine driving a 997 Turbo with how aggressive the drivers are.
Thanks again Emre and Ibrahim!

Dear Mike,
It was a pleasure to have you in our shop.
I had to leave urgently friday morning, but i'm glad my father took care of you.
I hope to see you again here soon, maybe at one of our trackdays,
so you can have test drives in all of our cars

Emre is one talented and down to earth bloke. His work is 2nd to none. I just recently ordered an exhaust and tune from ESmotor after researching, reading reviews and seeing his work first hand.
Keep up the good work mate.
