Is +38 offset up front too aggressive?

Hello guys!

Long time lurker but first time poster. This is a great community! I drive an 08 TT and looking to learn more and meet people here.

I'm looking at a wheel with a 19x8.5 +38 offset for the front and 19x11 +40 rear. I have some H&R springs on the way and was wondering if these wheels would be too aggressive for my setup? I want to make it aggressive but not to the point it's detrimental to performance and affect tire life by compensating on camber to make things fit.

Thanks in advance.

Can't really define "too agressive", but the factory offsets are ET56 front and ET51 Rear on 19X 8.5 and 11 Respectively.

So the back wheel face will be moved outward 11MM on the rear from OEM, which is fine, as 15MM spacers get them out to just about flush and that would be an effective ET36 on rear. On the fronts, about 7mm spacers put them flush with wheel opening so that is an effective ET49...so those (ET38 you suggested) would be out pretty far....likely beyond the wheel opening by about 11 MM, which I am thinking would make the front stick out farther than the rear too. ( You will need to add spinners if you do that ).

Just info for you to consider. I am sure others wil have opinions also..

Good luck.

therock is spot on. Offset of 40 will be fine on the rear, but any offset below 45 on the front will undoubtedly cause the wheels/tires to protrude outside the wheel wells.

I did 18mm spacers on the rear on my stock setup while running Super Sport tires, (much wider than most.) No rubbing at all at the track.

I have to be honest, I didn't run with confidence the first time with this setup but, it was perfect with no rubbing at all at roughly 2 degrees camber on the rear.

Were you running a modified suspension? How about the fronts? What spacers did you put?

38 up front is too much as others have stated. Given oem tire and wheel widths 44-46 up front and as I run 33 in rear look great and work on the track without issues.

Makes sense. However, I've read somewhere here of people running up front 20x9 ET40, how is that possible?

I have the H&R lowering springs with stock arms in the rear.

Up front, I have cup arms and run no spacers.

Do the cup arms provide extra camber/toe? Sorry I'm not familiar with them.

Correct, Stock arms wouldn't allow enough adjustment like the GT3 does.

Do you have pictures of your set up with 18mm on your car?

The reason I am asking is I currently have 15mm on, but have 20mm waiting to put on in the spring.

I have seen the H&R 17mm and it looked like it can still come out some, so that is why I pulled the trigger on 20mm, but was wondering about rubbing as well (I am lowered on H&R's as well).

Thanks

Hey Bobby,

Here are a few. Also, the tires mounted are Super Sports which are much wider (tire to Road) than most. I am running a Chamber of-2°31' I don't think I could run a 20mm spacer on my setup.
