Led tail lights for my 997.1 help me

Hi there,
I ve decided to upgrade the back view of my 997.1 (turbo) and i would like to get informed about the choices i got.
I am thinking about the plug n play lights that stick into the OEM bumper,as the conversion to 997.2 cost much more.

So what would you suggest me to get? Any help would be appreciated

This may help:

a search should get you the info you are after - this one has been beaten to death and there are countless threads available.

try searching for: Dectane, Depo, 997 LED tails, etc.

I bought the FVD ones for my 997.1tt. I think they are all pretty similar but FVD is great to deal with and stands behind their products. The lights look great and really modernize the car.

Good luck,
Franc

As others have indicated...A search here will yield tons of info and experiences.

To simplify it for you there are basically two types; Depo (also branded as Dectane...but they are Depo), and the RotTec brand.

The Depos look nearly identical to the 997.2 lights , but for the shape. These as of late have been the least problematic as well. The RotTec are a bit different and have had more issues (based on experiences documented). They have some weird issues and the need to modify the rear fog light incandescent bulb as well.

Lots more to it (and many opinions), but that is a simplistic view of your options.

I went with Depo / Dectane. Fit and quality is certainly OEM spec.

Depo/Dectane ships with a resistor box while RoTTec/DRC have to configure a resistor. Also RoTTEc/DRC uses existing OEM wire harness while Depo/Dectane does not.

Strange.... I thought one model (possibly the Rotec) has a C-shaped lighting vs a full circle?

Another option to consider if you want to change the look of your 997.1 TT is the OE solid red tail lights. You can buy them at www.suncoastparts.com. They aren't LEDs, but they look really good on the 997.1 cars. I originally switched my OE tail lights to Depo LEDs, but I ultimately sold them and went with the OE sold reds because I prefer the look.

Honestly, why make your tail lights look like the 997.2. OEM lights now look more like the 991 lights at night. Just the red portion lights up which is just about the same look as the 991.

Hi, there, if you like the LED tail light, use the DEPO light. they are 100% LED and just plug and play. Really easy to install and no error message.
