Looking for 997 Turbo in 110K range. Any advice? What should I "spend money on?"

Two years ago friend of mine got 2010 Turbo. I successfully avoided it for almost two years but recently had a chance to drive it on a long trip. If that was not enough - he recently lent me his car for the weekend. This combined made up my mind to try to get one for myself if I can find the right one. Also my wife's reaction was worth - well - about $100K.

I am new to Porsche world (drove BMWs for a long time) and I have been trying to figure out best way about buying the right turbo. My friend bought his in 2013 off lease - so 2010 model - with 26K miles and he paid $100K for CPO. I would be happy with that deal - that's how the search started - but I think he did quite well. I would like to stay close to $100K but can go to $110K for the right car.

The car will be used daily and not pampered. This is not to say that it will be abused - I take good care of my cars - but I live in downtown Palo Alto (in case you are familiar with the area) and have to park in my driveway or in front of the house (I use car cover). I have kids, will have child seats in rear, and will be putting about 10K miles/year. I plan to keep this car for a long time. I think it kind of rules out getting garage queens with ultra low mileage as premium I'd pay would be gone in a year.

Few questions I hope to get help with.
1. Where should I spend money? Get newer car? Fewer miles? More options?
2. What is a "must have" on this car and what is "nice to have?" I am generally not an "option' person - but get all the options that make car d"rive better" (e.g. better suspension) or "feel better" (e.g. more supportive seats). Could not care less about nagivation.
3. Turbo vs Turbo S?
4. Private party vs Porsche dealer vs other dealers?
5. I live in California - any issues buying car on east coast?
6. Any other advice

My original thought was to get a somewhat higher mileage (20's) car - coupe only. I noticed that there is a premium when cars have very low mileage but once mileage gets high (say 60's) there is not as much discount as I'd expect.

Much appreciate advice and feel free to drop me an email aoysgelt@gmail.com if you want to reach out to me personally.

I presume you are looking for a 997. 2 with PDK trans.

For $100K you can probably get a higher mileage 2011 Turbo S. The S comes with all the performance options so the only thing you need to worry about is color combination and whether you want centerlock wheels or not.

If you aren't picky about color combinations and don't need the extra performance options from the S then you can get a regular Turbo for maybe $90K.

These cars are definitely made to be driven and driven hard. They are bulletproof.

Best of luck with your search my friend.

For that kind of money you could pretty easily get yourself into a 2011 or 2012 Turbo S.

For comparison's sake, here's a 2012 Turbo S cab that we have for sale. Cabs usually have a higher sticker price the coupes, and this one has relatively low miles too.

If you are looking for an unmolested solid dealer serviced 2010 TT Cab mine is for sale and it is a private party sale, so you can tell CA you paid what ever you want. Recent 20k service along with brake flush and still on CPO for another 9 months or so. Never hit and no paint work with records from new.
