Ignition coils available?
Ignition coils available?
So I'm having my car serviced and planned to put new coils in it.
I ordered 6 Bosch 0986221016 coils from JDMEuroman on Amazon,.. and they shipped my Beru instead.
I ordered another set from eEuroparts and they sent me Beru 0040100177 (But with a sticker over the original part number on the box that said 997 602 107 00,..... then ZS-177. Just above and on top of that sticker was another sticker that says 0986221016.
According to the local foreign auto parts guy,.. their book lists OEM as being BERU 997 602 104 00,... or a ZS-178
I'm lost. What is the OEM coil for this car (2007, 997.1 Turbo). Do they exist? Can I buy them?
Suncoast has coils for sale for $130 more than these other places,. and they say theirs are a Beru 997 602 104-02.
Argh!
So is the OEM one really a Beru? And it should end in -104-00? With -104-02 being perhaps an update or a different production run?

I started to get lost down the rabbit hole of coil part numbers back when I did mine a year ago also. I ended up just ordering the Beru coils from Suncoast. They have performed flawlessly. I wouldn't worry about it. From what I saw, there was some evidence the Beru may be a bit more reliable than the Bosch. Just keep one set and call it a day

Gotcha.
Any idea what part numbers ytours were?
The ones both of these internet places sent me were
997 602 107 00
But supposedly those are for 996 and 986 cars,.. and the Beru version of the 997 coils are Beru number
997 602 104 00
And Suncoast is now selling ones that have Beru number
997 602 104 02
Perhaps the 02 at the end is just a later production run?
Yes. Many times with European brands in particular, they end up with "index numbers" at the end that count up as the revisions are done. 02 is likely the 3rd iteration. I would buy those and move on
I use Bosch from ECS Tuning.

Ok,.. got them on the way.
Pelican parts has every combination it seems.
The OEM coil for the 997 is the Beru 997-602-104-00 (Beru internal # ZS178)
The updated coil is thicker where the bolts go through (perhaps to prevent them cracking?) And so they come with longet attaching bolts in the box.
That updated version is 997-602-104-02-M47
Pelican sells 6 of those for $222 with free shipping.
It's the 5th one down on this page (as of my posting this)
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...ELIGNT_pg2.htm
This one.

They only had 4 in stock ATM,.. but should get more very soon. They say they sold something like 170 last month.
Are any of the cylinders that are easy to get to with the engine in the car? If so,.. I can just replace the hardest 4, if the other 2 don't show up in time, and do the last 2 later.
EDIT. Pelican lied (twice). They don't have them and can't get the correct ones. After wasting 2 weeks of my time,.. they gave me a refund.

What a kefuffle I had trying to order from Pelican. Long story short, even though they said they had the Beru in stock they didn't end up having them. Then they couldn't even get the Bosch when I needed them.
The revised Beru part number with the longer bolts has slightly different electronics. I did a lot of searching on the internet to see which one to go with (the older or newer revision) and came across some sites saying the newer ones were more prone to problems because of the electronics. It wasn't easy to find much info on the revision so I hope it works out for you....

I called them and asked the sales person if they were sure that was the number on them,.. and that I had received various parts from other vendors claiming to be selling the Bosch or Beru units.
They assured me that these were really the -104-02 Berus.
Well,.. I'll have almost 3 sets on hand,.. none of them the original ones LOL
These (the -104-02) are the ones Suncoast is currently selling for $366 plus shipping.
