Help pls: clutch is much heavier prior to starting car in morning - leak AGAIN?

Hi guys, just curious about forum inputs before calling/bringing car in. Car had slave cylinder replacement in past, and a couple months ago again had slave cylinder/master cylinder replaced.

I daily drive the car and typically in morning clutch is very light when I step on it to start car. For past week this first step-on feels very heavy, surely much heavier than previous. Once started, clutch is light again and operation otherwise normal.

Anyone with similar experience? Is it sign again of yet another impending leak in the system? Do I need to top up on the fluid? Thanks in advance.

Your accumulator is starting to fail. What happens first is it won't hold pressure over night. Next you will start to notice some subtle pulsation in the pedal when you press it in. This part is different from the slave. It's the black canister next to the slave on the transmission. Not Terribly expensive for another one plus install

I had replaced an accumulator on my 996 twin turbo. It cost about $500 if I remember.

Had both of these EXACT symptoms with mine. CPO replaced the accumulator and it feels much better now.

Thanks guys for the very helpful replies. Sigh - yep I had that one replaced too. This system (and various other leaks - coolant leak, wing hydraulic leak, turbo leak, I've had them all ) is the biggest problem for our Turbo for sure.

How long do I have to bring the car in? Is complete failure imminent?

I have the same experience. The pedal goes stiff when left over night. I had the accumulator replaced, but it did not solve problem. Can't remember if the shop said it could be the slave or master cylinder. In any event, I left it as is and I've had the overnight stiff pedal syndrome for about 18mos. I check the fluid periodically and it's always fine. I guess I'm waiting for a different sign of imminent failure before replacing.

There's no rush. Just keep an eye on the slave reservoir under the hood and make sure it isn't pushing fluid out and you'll be fine. I dropped all that crap in the trash and installed a BBi slave. Glad to be rid of that failure prone system.

I have a slave and accumulator I removed from my car. I replaced it with a new one because I removed my engine. Never had any problems with it so if you need it I can let it go very very cheap

Thanks - I haven't been to the forum for a while and just now read up on the BBI slave http://housemotorsports.com/bbi-auto...turbo-996-997/ .

Could you (and Krici) comment on the stiffness of clutch after BBI slave install? How does it compare to GT3/GT2 clutch stiffness? TIA

Need to get me one of these? Do you need an upgraded accumulator for these or deletes them completely?

It's difficult to say for sure as I upgraded to a heavier duty clutch to handle my power upgrades at the same time. It is more stiff however it feels significantly more connected/direct than before. I love it. I'd say it is on par with the gt2 conversions ( I only sat in a gt2 and depressed the clutch a few times, so not much time to compare) but maintains stock lines with no need for caps/plugs or tapping the transmission in the other kits. The shop that did the install was very impressed with the BBi setup.

It could also be that some dirt got in there when they changed the parts. I had that issue and a good clutch fluid flush fixed it. Not that it can't be the accumulator and most probably it sounds like it does, but the dirt could also be a cause.
