997.1TT PCCB brake pads questions

I just had my car service from dealer and it pass with flying color, except the PCCB pads wear measurement seem lower than expected. My front is 5 mm and rear 7 mm pads remaining, question is "is it time to change out the front pads? my rotors are in perfect condition at this time. The rule of thump in this forum is change out the pads at 50% wear, is it true new pads are about 13 mm? if so, my front need to replace and the rear is borderline at this time. Please chime in if you've change your pads lately, also where is the best place to buy OEM pads with the lowest price? thanks in advance everyone.

I'm in same boat as you. fronts are 6MM, rear are 7MM. I'm going to be buying pads. Cheapest I found was from Sonnen Porsche

I think you get the right parts number, Sonnen cost approximately $700 for all corners. We gotta pay for labor cost, I hate stealership

From my research, rotors should be good for the life of the car if you take care of them and don't track the car.

My pads are at they are now with 62k miles on the car. Now I don't know if the previous owner had replaced them before, but I'd be interested to hear how many miles OP has on his to see where it aligns.

My car has 11800 miles, Honolulu is very congested and traffic is horrid if you DD your car. I don't DD my Turbo, it's my 3rd car. I could see why the pads are worn prematurely but definitely don't wanna ruin my rotors. Service advisor said pads need to replace at 3mm and also advise me to change the rotors, I gave him a WTF look and kindly remind him PCCB last at least 100k miles if we taken care of pads and not tracking the car. He simply reply "Oh". Damn I miss my last advisor, he has been in the business for 20 - 30 years, the new rookie advisor don't know jack about Porsche. How sad!

Right on Golf52, yah you'll replace ur rotors for $10k- with 12k miles on car- just nuts!! Did u sell your 997TT yet?

I also miss the days of Keith & Melissa in service at Porsche of Hawaii. Current service advisors are not the same!! Some days only one svc advisor at POH & limited communication as they're so busy- isn't like the past. That said the techs are great, know their stuff & you're able to talk to them easily.

Haven't found any local non dealer porsche service that i've used with my TT (though Gerard at motorwerks knows his stuff) .

I really miss Keith and Melissa, I trusted them more than myself whenever my car is in for service. They never upsale the unnecessary maintenances, in fact my OCD make me replace things prematurely despite their advise against it. Keith used to inspect my air filters and told me don't need to change because it still look like new and not compromising car performance. I changed it anyway because it give me a peace of mind, he just laugh. Melissa always called me to update my car status and always on time, she even changed out my light bulbs for free. People like them build a long trusting relationship with the brand. Nowadays I see new faces all the time, Tama seem like a nice guy but I can tell he has lack of knowledge for the brand. I kinda mad when he told me that we don't change out pads without replacing the rotors.
As for the car, buyer put down deposit but unable to pull through his finances, plus I have an emergence business trip in Asia, I returned his deposit. Test driven Audi R8 V10 PDK and C63S and GTS, these cars are fast and dual clutch are surprisingly efficient and incredibly quick but too numb and boring for me. For now I decided to keep the Turbo, may be changing wheels and steering just for sake of new feeling/look. Wife also happy knowing that I won't burn more money into cars. LOL.
