Cobb AP Handheld in my CPO 2012 Turbo S
Cobb AP Handheld in my CPO 2012 Turbo S
I finally got my CPO 2012 Turbo S home...found a COBB AP Handheld in the Glove Box
. Also looking in the engine bay the car has an IPD intake plenum installed. Since the car is CPO the dealer told me the ECU was stock. I connected the AP to the AP Manager on my laptop and found this info:
AP3-POR-002 v1.7.3.1-16388
Vehicle Name: Porsche 911 Turbo S (997.2) 3.8L TT 38TUS26
Vehicle ID: PORS_911_9972_C838_TUS26 (Installed)
Transmission ID: PORS_997_PDK_T082_CT1D82ZUJ (Installed)
Serial: POR0200192
Upgrade Serial: 00000 Original Serial: 629000c0
ECU Reflash map: Stage2 93 v103
Transmission reflash map: COBB Sport v202
Looks like the car had a Stage 2 ECU map installed and a TCU map, and the AP is still married to the car. Would the dealer have reflashed this to stock or would they even bother with all this? Is there any way to find out what map is on the car? The car has the following mods:
Thanks in advance.

- IPD Plenum
- Sharwerks exhaust (dealer said the cats were OEM but now I am not so sure)
- I found a pair of Audi 710N DVs in a box in the "frunk". Now I am not sure what BCVs are on the car...any way to check?
- Car had Fabspeed headers but the dealer swapped in the stock headers
Thanks in advance.

Interesting - I was under the impression they wouldn't CPO modified cars or even ones that had been known to have been modded then put back to stock. In your case it does sure look like the Cobb software is still installed with the tune as you said. If the dealer had uninstalled it, the AccessPort would report as "not installed". Even if you don't keep them you scored a few valuable mod items here!
Re. the cats on the exhaust, I'm not aware of any "cat-back" aftermarket systems which keep the factory cats but not muffler, so they are extremely likely not factory OE cats but you could look for the 997. stamped Porsche part numbers.
Oh yeah - congrats and I hope you really enjoy the new car!

If you know your going to be modding your car anyways , these are all bonuses for you, but I would still ask for compensation from the dealer as it was sold and purchased under the facts that is was CPO (stock) vehicle.
This is crazy some of the stuff dealerships get away with.
If you bought your car CPO & want the coverage when you need it, bring the car back to the dealer ASAP with your findings. Porsche will not warranty a vehicle that has ECU mods (especially), your claim would be voided (if you make a claim).

I finally attached the Access Port and confirmed that the car had a stage 2 93 octane tune and a PDK Sport tune
with stock cats. I actually called Cobb and they were tremendous...spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone walking through stuff. In the process of walking me through this the Cobb Tech support guy asked me to uninstall the tune and then try reinstalling stage 0 or Stage 1. I had a oh **** moment when it said "communications failure" and put the AP in recovery mode. When I tried to recover it would not do it since AP was not communicating. I realized I had BT on through the PSM as I was taling to the tech support guy. Also checked my Ctek and it was in maintenance mode. I turned off the radio and BT and reset the Ctek to charge mode and then the whole thing worked "Phew"!.I basically flashed it to Stage 0 and drove it around for a bit logging boost and A/F etc. Looked like it was boosting about 1.1 bar or so which I presume is stock boost? I did try and contact the service manager at the dealer I bought the car from but there has been no response.
My options are as follows since the car is CPO:
- Uninstall the AP and load the factory map back on (it was backed up on the AP)
- Leave it Stage 0 since that is simulated stock
- Flash Stage 1 and enjoy it a bit
Just to reiterate...COBB WAS AWESOME! They didn't have to help me but their support guy Aaron spent close to 40 mins with me on the phone.

You're lucky - great mods and a CPO!
However, mods determine the tune - and as the headers were removed, the installed tune may not reflect the physical mods. Nor would the stage 0.
If it was mine, I'd get to a local tuner and get a custom tune . . .
