Wanted to reach out for some guidance along the way and introduce my build, picked up a 997.1 tiptronic last year with some small upgrades. I never leave anything stock so Of course I jumped right in to modifying Car came with IPD plenum, tune, gmg exhaust. tune never seemed right so I quickly hit up Sam Stone at Evoms and had a new tune ordered, tiptronic tune as well and boost rfecirc valves. Hot summer nights last year produced variable power output so I ordered fabspeed headers, do88intercoolers, ypipe, boost hoses kit. Car runs well and consistent now. I spent the last 6 months fighting a 991.1 steering wheel upgrade for pdk paddle shift, after 2 steering modules, numerous programming attempts, finally got the programming handled only to find out my replacement wheel wasnt working either. So picked up 991.2 wheel and now working fantastic Logical next steep was to improve upon my estimated 675ish hp and go to something that can only be described as stupid level. After talking to numerous resources and many disheartening conversations about power capability of the tiptronic, Todd at Protomotive got me in touch with Bill Schurr who gave me the statement "I can get the tiptronic to hod whatever you can make".... So my natural reaction was "I'll put that statement to the test".
In comes Sean at Silly Rabbit Motorsports, who has been amazing at putting up with me. So parts collecting I went, head studs, connecting rods, pistons/liners, injectors, turbos......it never ends, and as Sean put it, we went deep into the rabbit hole. So with a new goal of around 1000 whp to start and after a month to turn it up to 1200, and eventually 1500+ whp, we started the process.Headgames cylinder heads and new cams along with srm fuel system and dual injector intake manifold are some of the goodies.
Now ecu, at that level added control of inputs, torque managment, boost by gear, rolling anti lag, traction control, all I knew would be something I wanted. So we began to talk about Syvecs. However We ultimately decided to try and pioneer a Motec plug and play for the tiptronic, which as far as I know Nobody has done. So we have a company building the harness and programming collaboration with Kyle at SRM. I started pulling the motor this week for the engine build, tiptronic goes to Bill this month, and shooting for a completion date around sept 1st to try and make pikes peak airstrip attack.
I know I will be asking many questions as I am doing the motor build myself and look forward to the journey

 

 

 

 

car came with 20 in vorsteiner wheels, dragy 1/4 best was 11.0 but I encounter wheelspin down low with 20s and pzero tires
so I ordered r888r and signature wheels in 19in

 

 

Sounds like your build is going to be a beast when done. Would be interested to hear more about your wheel swap - including what parts/programming were needed- as I have a 997.1 TT tip and would love to get the paddles.

 

the steering column control module needs replaced with part number 997.613.289.01; then vehicle handover and coded with piwis to enable multuifunction wheel (even if wheel doesnt have multifunction) and coded for tiptronic AND PDK in the steering wheel control module. New wheel and airbag, and thats it. Now I dont have factory radio so if you want multifunction to work, you also need gps adapter if using with factory radio

Engine out, so far no real surprises or complications..do have a question, what do these two lines the come off the ac line do/go to? It’s not refrigerant side

 

been a little sidetracked getting my wifes 2020 gt500 back on the road after some needed upgrades, motor disassembly starts this week and large shipment of parts incoming. To answer my own question above for people like me new to porsches, those lines are fuel coolers. Was apparent once engine out and you could easily trace the lines. I will be running dedicated srm fuel system so will bypass on assembly. Should be loading up a bunch of pics this week,

Turbos, fabspeed headers, IPD plenum, GMG exhaust (I love this exhaust for street, perfect sound IMO), eventually do88 silicone boost hoses that are 6 mo old. Wanted to give people who will be looking soon for winter upgrade ideas some advanced notice
