Fuel Door Cable

I'm a new owner getting acquainted with my 07 V8V. I purchased it knowing the fuel door didn't work and that it was a common problem. My fix was different than the door alignment or actuator that most other people experience. The actuator tried to move when I pressed the button, but it didn't move enough to release the door. My solution was a new cable. The old one somehow rubbed and rusted and it took a lot of force to pull the metal cable through the outer casing, even when out of the car. I couldn't see the problem until I removed it. I tested the actuator by disconnecting the cable and the white part that connects to the cable moved a lot more than it did when the cable was attached. I purchased a used cable on eBay from a Rapide, and it is a direct replacement and moves much more easily. If your fuel door doesn't open I would recommend adding this to the list of things to check before ordering a new actuator or just living with using the trunk release.

The actuator on my 14 Rapide seems to work ok, but the fuel door does not open 90% of the time. Maybe it's the cable, thanks for this tip
