VH V12 Vantage quiet start?
Ha! It doesn't. However, through the aftermarket you can install a switch that will enable you to keep the exhaust in quiet or loud mode regardless of RPM/throttle position, as well as the original automatic mode.
I don't believe it can be quiet at start up as it use vacuum activated valves on the exhaust and the exhaust vacuum pump needs to run to create pressure to close the valves. Those valves are open by default and close only with vacuum pressure. Maybe on second start up they might be close as the pump might keep some pressure but definitely not on first start up
Agreed. The wicked start up is a big selling point!

I have managed to do a quiet start in my Virage a few times by pushing the accelerator flat to the floor and turning the engine over for a few seconds then starting it normally. It doesn't work every time and makes a reasonable amount of noise doing that anyway!
Even with the secondary cats removed, I don't find the car excessively noisy after the initial starting flare, as long as I don't enable sports mode and go easy on the accelerator as the car is very keen to change to a higher gear at quite low revs then.

For a quiet start you need to install a 3 way switch - always quiet - stock - always loud

There was no factory-equipped "quiet start" option available on any Aston Martin models built on the VH platform. This feature can only be achieved through aftermarket exhaust valve control systems. The "dry start" (or dry cranking) feature was available on V12 models equipped with the Ford-derived ECU ("Spanish Oak"). However, the V12VS and the Vanquish from model year 2015 onwards use the Bosch ECU, which does not support the "dry start" option.
