Exclusive pics of upcoming GT3RS / GT2
We can exclusively reveal that Porsche has started testing not one but two upcoming super-performing 911s. And we have spy-shots of both, thanks to super-snapper, Sebastian Geisler.
GT2
Spotted here testing on the public road, the Carrera GT2 (997) is expected around the end 2007 or early 2008, will boast some 530-550bhp, and include PCCB (ceramic brakes) as standard. It's differentiated by its modified front and rear spoilers, new exhaust system, and is about 80-100Kg lighter than the 997 turbo.

GT3 RS
Porsche is doing its test work on the 997 GT3RS on the track. This beast is scheduled for release at the Paris Motor Show which runs from 30 September to 15. October 2006.
It features PCCB as standard, uses the same wide body as Carrera 4 / 4S but with a different rear wing. It'll be 50-75Kg lighter than GT3 and carry a price tag of about £94,000, some £14,000 more than the 997 GT3.
On one image you can already see the GT3RS written on the bonnet.

Is it me or does it look too much like a Carrera 997? There doesn't seem to be as "drastic" of a difference in the turbo models (in my eyes) from the normal N/A offerings.
People always complain that "911s all look the same". That seems to be even more the case for the 997 line vs the 996 line.

I'm glad to see that they are not going to use the same rear wing as the 997 aero package for the GT3. The wing in these pictures look much better. And I definitely agree that white will be the way to go.

B/C 997 C4's are already wide they aren't making the Turbo/GT-2 any wider b/c it would then get into a third body shell and costs are probably too high. The GT-2 wing shown here seems like an unholy offspring between the stock 997 Turbo wing and the 996 GT-2 wing (which it probably is). I will reserve my real judgement until seeing in person.

I think the color may also contribute to this, the lines are getting lost. W/ that said, I don't think it's any less drastic then what's gone on before. Just my 2cents
