CL 63 ///AMG Production Pics & Info.

German auto mag Auto Motor und Sport published the first official photos and info on Merc's new super CL-Class, the CL63 AMG. As expected, it's powered by the 6.3-liter (rounded up for marketing purposes from 6.2) AMG-derived V8, which in the CL coupe will produce around 518 hp and 465 ft.-lbs of torque. Zero to 60 occurs in 4.6 seconds, and top speed will again be clipped by the 155-mph German gentleman's agreement. As expected, it's a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC picking the proper cogs, with three separate performance modes that tweak pedal response and suspension stiffness. In the jewelry separtment, it's de rigeur 19" AMG alloys and brake disks as large as pan pizzas. Expect an unveiling at the Paris show, with sales starting in early '07. Click for more pics.

the price difference from 63 to 65 is like from 55 to 65. that's about 50k. 63 is just NA version of the SC 55 so it has less torque but more hp. rumor suggests there will be a turbocharged 63 in the future but it makes no sense if the new 7 speed tranny can't handle the torque. the 65 engine is a gem but the weight & the old 5 speed tranny just kill it imo.

the front kinda looks like a smoother ScionTC and the back as well know comes straight from the old acura CL. i envy those who were able to pick up the final interation of the last CL. that was a good looking car
