Mercedes-Benz, may produce Sclass cabrio

When rumors first broke in June that Mercedes was planning a four-door convertible concept car based on the Mercedes S-Class, enthusiasts around the globe were surprised, and perhaps somewhat confused.
Of course, the idea isn't entirely new. In the 1950s, the German automaker offered a four-door convertible called the Mercedes 300.
But more surprising than the prospect of a four-door convertible concept are reports from Automotive News Europe today that the vehicle could become a production car within a year. A source within Mercedes told the trade publication the company will produce the niche V12 rag-top for the 2009 model year. The concept will be on display at the Detroit auto show in January. here as well
I'm with JOX on this one, why would you want a drop top where the back seat passengers will feel like they are sitting in the back of a pickup truck. Even a CL might be a bit much, CLS and M6 is about as big of a cab as there should be IMO.
