New Tt Information

Ordered the car in March with a $7K deposit

Build date was provided in late March 07 as April 17th, today.

The dealer didnt call with my VIN and I got anxious so I called.

I was told my TT was selected for the Quality Check where they go thru the entire car and check 100% of it. This is done to every 200th car by Porsche Techs.

I was not aware of this process and if its true,, i am ok with it but I just dont want my dealer trying to schnooker me.

The dealer said I could lose 2 weeks due to this random selection for quality assurance. On the other hand he said I will have a 100% perfect to specs and tolerence car. Like they dont come just abt perfect without the 2 wk wait.

Had anyone heard of this before?

This is all done at the factory..

I think its legit.

its a 2 week process according to the dealer.

he wants the car sold for his #'s as much as I want it so there would be no reason for the dealer to hold it up.

Honestly, I have never heard of this before? I don't see why Porsche would select 1 car out of every 200 to keep for 2 weeks of inspection? Will they be putting a lot of miles on this "test". It could be true but it would be a first for me as I am not aware of this being done before. What happens if they find a defect? Will you be out of a car even longer? I guess if mine had a defect I would want it taken care of ASAP. Why would they not do this at the factory? Anyone else?

I queried the sales manager at length today and he told me he wasnt BS'ing. Porsche really takes a random number of cars and does a thorough complete check of tolerances.

In my 12 years of Porsche ownership this was a first for me.

I am sure someone on here is aware of this ordeal.

thanks

Don

I know Mercedes does it, but I don't think its every 200th car. But it will come with a letter in the glove box explaining the high delivery mileage the car somes with.

It's actually true, they check cars randomly off the line, no big deal. There is no set numeric sequence to the car chosen for QA, or else it wouldn't be random. My understanding was that it only slows productio a day or two though. Mine was done 4/14 and it's already ONVESEL.

In my view you never know how a dealer is going to manipulate their build allocations. In your case the delay puts it into a May time slot, this may have been the case from the beginning. But I tend to be suspicious about people to begin with and the auto industry doesnt have the best reputation.

Mine was also held back at the port for QC issues too. That was painful but it was eventually completed and the car was shipped to me. Hang in there, your car will make it through.

Interesting to hear this. Maybe this is why my car came to the US with over 200 miles on it. Or Maybe they just wanted to stretch her legs on the autobahn. I guess knowing this quality "double check" makes me feel better but at the same time makes me wonder what quality check takes 200 miles. Is that an executive taking my car home quality check...

You should still be able to get your vin. They allocate those weeks before production.

skykmr, 200 miles!! Wow. Did you ask why so high? I think mine was in the 30's.

kush, the car came into a dealer in texas and was the owners demo there after. Now i am getting the car with 600 miles shipped to me in Ohio. Needless to say i have been grilling my sales guy and the manager in reagrds to these miles and will be going over the car with a magnifying glass. If the car is not above perfection, then i will not signing the papers. Of course the dealer did take some money off the car but still i expect nothing less than perfection. only time will tell as the car will be here friday.
