I recently photographed this ground up custom 63 vette with 2300 hp. The goal was to create the quickest street car running a 6 second quarter mile. The owner has put on 120 miles on the street. He intends to do about 1000 miles then take it to the track.

The car is on its way to the Good Guys show in Ohio and will be on display at the Moroso stand.

No matter how you look at it, this is a sick vehicle. There are incredible amounts of engineering to make the car streetable.

Hopefully I'm going to do some additional photographic/graphic work with the owner.

From the position of the side exhaust, it looks like there is no muffler. How does he drive around town without getting pulled over for noise?

Actually, my understanding is that the headers feed back into the twin turbo chargers then exits out to a set of custom mufflers which then flow out the side of the car behind the front wheels. The car was not insanely loud. Like I said, they put a significant amount of engineering and thought into this car.

Another interesting feature is the 15 gallons of water in a chiller behind the driver. It has stainless lines that run thru the chassis then up to the intercoolers then back. They run off of a bilge pump.

I have those sme mufflers on my car. Between the turbos dampening the noise and the mufflers it is not terribly loud except at wot.

It does not take much for a historic/ collector car to be street legal, so I am sure that in what ever state the car is in it will pass because no emmisions and there was not much in the way of safety back in 63.

 

I'm sorry Ken, I did not even know about this show coming up. I would definitely go and get pics for you, but I actually leave for vacation this morning and won't be back until the 21st. I'm sorry that I can't help you out, I would if I was available, and good luck with your project.

bet you wont even be able to keep that thing straight just by tapping the gas pedal....

 

That thing screams 'arrest me' at +/- 4 miles or the range of the exhaust note, whichever is greater.

 

What kind of MPG does this bad boy throw down!??!

 

The car gets 10 mpg, on pump gas.
