thats stupid if they do.. I have a hard time believing that they can produce cars that will have the power and peformance of the Z06/Z07 (blue devil) but cant build a tranny to hold it?

doubt that.. there 1100 - 1500 RWHP TT vipers running with built T56 so I dont see why they wouldnt offer a manual, unless they fear un expirenced drivers getting behind the wheel and grabbing a few gears and loosing it.. :shrugs:

I dunno, but thats dumb IMO to only offer it with an auto, ive driven C6's with the "push button shift" "tiptronic" = **** IMHO

i agree it's stupid but i'm sure it's prett hard creating a clutch that can hold that much power *AND* making it driveable on the street. i'm still not completely comfortable w/ my clutch and it definitely takes some fun out of zipping around town.

If this is true, then the car might be "limited-production" determined by demand rather than by supply.

maybe they should add a 2-speed PowerGlide to appease the drag racers

I kind of feel that the popular mechanics article is a load of b.s. since there information source is a large corvette dealership. I don't know, i just don't like to trust dealers on information that isn't out yet since they seem to be wrong most of the time. Also i think it would be suicide if chevy didn't put a manual in the new super vette.

For sure, the dealership is virtually always wrong with most makes...

Awhile back, our local Infiniti dealer tried to convince me to give them a deposit for the upcoming GT-R just to find out later that it would be badged a Nissan instead. Take anything you hear from a dealership with a grain of salt. Also, in my experience popular mechanics is not a real trustworthy source.

At a possible 125k, wouldn't it be cheaper to modify the car yourself? and still come out with more hp?

Tilton has been doing it for many years with their dual and triple plate carbon clutches. They hold a lot more power than that, and are actually smoother than most single plate clutches.

No stick, no sale, as far as I'm concerned.
