I'm looking to get into a larger/faster car than my current C2. The wifey would like an W211 E55. What do you guys think? Are there any major problems with the E55?

 

I've got a fully loaded 05 with 15k on it. No problems. Although I sometimes think the COMMAND system might need to be rebooted.

 

Take a E55! Better than E60 M5 and S6 in my eyes.

@paul, have you the Murci in the stable at the moment or it is gone?

 

I have a 2005 E55 and let me just say it's an awesome vehicle. They have come down dramatically in price. You can practically steal one.

 

What should I be paying for an 04 with 33k miles? MBZ 8yr/100k warranty and loaded except for pana roof.

I have a 06 E55 I love driving it and the torque is awesome.

incredible car - very fast, very smooth, handles well - it does everything very well, although i think mercedes does need to step up their build quality in terms of the little details that they have missed... minor things, that do not take away from the greatness of the vehicle

On my 3rd E55, 2nd W211 - for me there's just nothing that beats it. I strongly recommend getting one with warranty - CPO if possible. I sold my '03 shortly before it came out of warranty - it didn't have any major problems but the occassional $1-$2k repair bill will make you think it would have been better to have gotten warranty or extended warranty if it was available when you bought it.

the torque is amazing and they respond well to BPU mods. my only wish is that it had a manual but for what it is it would be a fantastic daily. good luck!

 

I have an 06 w211 E55, fully loaded, and have had my fair share of cars. There's something about the ability to throw 3 other people in the car, stand on the throttle, and hear "Holy ****" in stereo x3 that just makes it all worth it.

I highly recommend this car. I just wish MB still made it.
