Where to get insurance for a Viper?

HI,

I have a 2001 GTS coming in this week and my company will not insure it, neither will most others I have tried.

I found Hagerty will insure it for about $1K/year
and progressive about $700/6 months

I have one of my Porsches insured by specialty insurance company Leland West but they dont have rates for CT so can't do any new policies here (!?).

Any better ideas?

I use State Farm for my Viper. It is $800-$900 per year.

I am a Farmers agent in Oklahoma, and we have no problem insuring them.

I am in CT.

I had a race car insured by Heacock Classic (American Modern) last year so I tried them, they will do 3,000 mile policy agreed value $55K for $1040. Maybe the same actual underwriter as Hagerty.

I tried to contact a State Farm agent in my town online but did not hear back from him. They are an odd company, maybe like allstate where you have an actual agent?

Car will be here in an hour (coming from TN) !!!!!

Yes I race with Farnbacher-Loles, told Greg Loles about the viper yesterday and he wants me to dyno it

Just got it 10 minutes ago, it's in awesome shape, just needs some work on the gas cap lid (clear coat is delaminating).

Took me 4 hours to clean the front suspension and engine yesterday, then another 3 hours to clean the rear suspension and wash the car today. All I need to do now is get it up in jackstands and clean the bottom and rest of the frame and it will be like new. A little black paint on chips on the frame and it looks fabulous. Hope I can get insurance and registration soon, looks like I will go with Heacock Classic. Never thought I would own another American car but so far I really like this one. (not my house, I wish!!!)

Nice! That's what my friends 01 GTS with 23k miles looks like. Same color scheme and rims.

Thanks, it's an '01 (I wanted a GTS with ABS so it was going to be an 01 or 02).

It has 4500 miles, I found it on autotrader.com in TN. A lot of the cars I found had carfax issues and too many owners/dealers/auctions. This one had one owner for a few months then the 2nd owner since 2002 put just a few thousand miles on it. That's his house in the picture, he has a lot of cars so you can tell he'd take good care of it. I paid more than some I saw, but prefer a cleaner car with no issues. There are quite a few with REALLY low miles but I want to drive it so I don't want to pay a premium for a garage queen.

Wish I could drive it, still waiting for plates. Went to a cruise night on Saturday with a friend who has a 2002 red/white GTS ACR with 1,000 miles. Now that I have one maybe he'll drive his more!

Have fun!

It came from Jackson, between Nashville and Memphis.
