I'd drive down "the back way" on 79 instead of I-10 madness. If you're making a day of it and don't mind the extra miles, the 177/77 route is most scenic. Just be VERY careful from Oracle Junction through Oro Valley is pretty much 1 giant zero tolerance speed trap because of the geezer population.

On your way into town (either I-10 or 79) Crown Concepts should be worth visit. Call ahead so they're ready to receive you.

Obviously a Aug 10 & Sept 14 tie in to the local C&C is a possibility (at La Encantada shopping center). Some of us often have brunch at North after.

The Mt Lemmon drive is nice, especially this time of year. I'd advise to call ahead and reserve some seats at one of the eateries up there. It's probably the one I'd recommend. Lots of Instagram worthy pull offs along the way. Usually the later in the day it gets, the busier the road is.

Pima Air is cool, but this time of year it's hot to see the outside exhibits and IIRC the parking area may be paved but the rest is a dirt/gravel lot so prepare for everything to get super dusty if you go that route. Other than being convenient from I-10, its a boring drive with nothing notable nearby and you're miles from "civilization" in terms of food/coffee type options.

Another interesting route is through Gates Pass to the Sonoran Desert Museum. You could enter from the north then exit towards Tucson via the pass. (I haven't done the north route in a while to see how the housing boom out there has affected the ride.) Even with school starting soon the UA garages should have space on the weekends if you want to lunch on University Ave before heading back.

^ That looks fantastic. Thank you so much for the information! Will make sure to implement it in the future cruise(s).

Hi:

Checking in. I am in the PHX area. I've only looked at this page one other time. Nice to see some life!

I have attended SDCC for about 8 years now. Pretty regular at it. I'll be there when it starts up again.

Best,

Steve

Who is all coming to Scuderia Southwest this Saturday morning in Scottsdale? It should now be branded as "Supercar Saturday", as it's exclusive to exotics. Anyone, anyone??

I will be there as an observer....curiosity. I'm taking the DD as I didn't try to register my Bentley.

I've been attending this CC for years and years, I have watched it grow from a few exotics to around 1000 cars. At its height, and with that many attendees things do get out of control regularly. I've seen the worst in people's behavior when a crowd is that large. I have come to know the core group of guys who put this on. I could see where the frustration level in dealing with the ever growing large crowd was playing on them. There were police issues, fights, threats, on and on.

In a way, I'll miss seeing the variety of cars. It will also be interesting to see just who shows up. After this first time, I'll decide if I want to keep going, but if it gets down to seeing the same small group of exotics every month, I'll probably give up on it in October. I don't mean to sound like a skeptic, but I doubt now it will ever return to what it was.

We are having a small rally to Mt Lemmon tomorrow morning. Going to swing by Cars and Coffee in Tuscon on the way there.

We ended up postponing it actually. Few of our guys had problems with their cars or had to travel that weekend, so we will resume when it is back to warm up there and we have a 20+ car group going.

On the other hand - Scottsdale Motorsports Gathering is on this Saturday and several of us will go up there, before we set off for a brunch cruise here in Scottsdale.
