Exhaust question

Okay...lovin' my DB9, and think it sounds great. But something in me wants a little more NOISE...maybe its hanging around with all of those Lambos

Anyway, I don't think the Quicksilver fits the DB9, too brutish...fits better on a Vantage. The Quicksilver is like $6K too

One interesting option is to put the stock DBS exhaust on it...runs about $2.5K...

What do you think, worth it?

I am certainly no expert but wouldn't the DBS exhaust be tuned for that car? There may be drone if used in applications not intended for. Just a thought but worth investigating. BTW, where did you hear Quicksilver is $6k? That sounds way too high. They can be purchased for under $3k for the Vantage and they look like very similar exhausts.

Close to $6K was what was quoted by the Aston Martin servcie center, and it was their suggestion to consider the DBS exhaust.

My Quicksilver was $2700, came brand new and it was installed at Aston in Mendocino. That $6k figure is bs my friend.

Thanks for the info...I think the quicksilver is too loud for the DB9 anyway, and will probably go with the DBS if anything.

I have not driven nor am too familiar w/ the DB9 but does the "sound" come on at around 4500 RPM? It does on the Vantage due to a set of valves on the exhaust that "open" above that RPM. If so let me know and I can explain the easy way to open the exhaust you have now ... did it on my Vantage for awhile. Then went w/ a new exhaust ... and other stuff.

Got the same price on the QS but we both probably got it from AMLI. I drove a DB9 volante with it and liked it a lot. I want to hear it again before deciding and then I'll work on price...

BTW, the Quicksilver for the Vantage comes in 3 sound levels. Maybe the same is true for the DB9.

I heard of another exhaust system too, Lanari. Anybody heard one of these. Even louder with the high flow catalyst.

If it "comes on" at 3900 - Try pulling the "exhaust lines" that go to your valves on top of the exhaust ... will give you an idea of open sound on your car ... a little trick on the Vantage.

The AMV8 has a fuse in the rear compartment, I believe it is #20. If you take it out, it keeps the pipes open all the time. Which is the sound difference you hear at 4k. The DB might have the same. If you look in the owners manual, the fuse is labels exhaust something, prety easy to figure out if there is one...GL
