Gearbox / Transaxle Vibration on V8 Vantage

My 2006 V8 Vantage sometimes exhibits some vibration noise at low revs, usually when manoeuvering (reversing or crawling in slow traffic, or steering full lock). It feels like it is coming from the gearbox or transaxle. I have asked the dealership about this and they say it is normal. Can anyone confirm this for me? Or should I pursue a warranty claim? Thanks.

firstly try the car with the traction control off, do you experience the sam problem,

first thing i would have checked is where the rear driveshafts go through the hub, i have seen noise and vibration caused by movement here very easy to rectify, if the problem disappears with the traction control off, then the problem is related to the braking at the rear, (traction control is through the rear pads) have you also got squealing from the rear brakes,

Many thanks Rick. I tried it with traction control off, and get the same vibration. So it looks like it could be the rear driveshafts. When you say it is easy to check, presumably by the workshop yes?

By the way, this is a truly great car and I've few complaints. The only other gripe is a tendency to stall when moving off. It seems you need to keep a lot of power on to avoid it. Any ideas, or is it just me !

with reference to the driveshafts most workshops will be able to do this, either dealer specialist or competent garage, if you need specific info if not using some one with Aston experience please let me know,

with regards to the stalling, this could be down to not having the latest software in the engine management system, or alternatively a sticky residue can build up on the throttle flap which can cause a flat spot on take off, again this is easily cleaned and worth a try, just because the car as been serviced by the dealer does not mean they have reflashed to the later software, i see many that have not been done,

Have the same issue here Aston vantage vibration in low gear and reverse

Rick - Same issue here. What exactly should I tell my mechanic? He should check the hub and rear axle? What typically is required to resolve? Is there a part? Would changing the gear fluids resolve? Thanks Jim

I just had an axle replaced because they don't replace any of the joints, it's all or nothing. I broke something in the joint closest to the box. It was definitely causing some grumbling and vibration. Not bad but bad enough I was just hoping it wasn't the trans. Mine was there all the time, slow or fast.
