would love to hear your personal likes and dislikes about the car and any problems you might have had since ownership... i never hear much about astons and even rarer run into an owner to talk to so i would LOVE your feedback.

Alex-try a quick forum search as there have been so many topics like this brought up over the past couple years.
Here is just one example:

It's a great car, mine is not a daily driver but many on this forum drive them every day.
Good luck

Well I do not know much about the CLK63's BS BUT I do know they are up on hp and tq over a '08 Vantage, by a lot...like 120hp and prob. 100lbft of tq as well. Pricewise you are close. I suppose it's what you are after...Myself, buying a new v8v this past April (coming out of an '07 911 turbo) can say that a MB was not on my shortlist of poss. new car. However that means squat as I am sure it is one bad assed machine and probably pretty rare. If I were shopping a AM though I would be looking at the '09's as you get some improvements in power over the '08's and a few other upgrades as well. Goodluck with your decision.
Go for at least an 08', the 4.7 is a night and day difference from the 4.3, just more power and torque everywhere, the gains don't look like a ton on paper, but in real world driving you can really feel the difference. And the 4.7 seemed to have a more raw harder edge exhaust note, either engine sounds incredibly good though.
Two totally different cars. The AMV8 is pretty roomy (considering what it is), easy to get in and out of, and obviously drop dead gorgeous.
As others have said the earlier cars are not particularly fast at all, and the engine rev's very lazily. Its tough to double clutch it at first because when you stab the throttle, the rev's don't jump like you expect them to! lol
Other than that I love them, until I wanna go stupid fast. At that point gotta grab a different car! lol

As others have said, the AMV8 and the Benz are very different cars, so different that it's almost difficult to compare them. It's much easier to compare say the AMV8 and a 911. So, I think you really need to decide what type of car you are looking for first. Also, if you want the power that a black series Benz provides, you will be disappointed in the AMV8, whether it's a 4.3 or 4.7. That said, the Vantage excels in other areas, such as style, grace, luxury, etc.
As for likes/dislikes on the Vantage, I personally don't have many dislikes. I, like most, have had minor issues with the car, but no serious (expensive) problems. Sure it could be more powerful, especially on the low end, but it'll still put a smile on your face when you drive it. Incidentally, you'll find that it puts a smile on many passersby faces too as you drive around town.

I've had an 07 for 5 months now. I drive it 2/3rds of the time as a DD. I don't look at it as a performance car, I look at it as one of the best looking cars on the road, and a great driving experience. Mine has been trouble free so far.
As for 4.3 vs 4.7 ... I have had a great deal of fun modding my 4.3 ... it is now better than a 4.7 ... I also do not like the newer 4.7 dash/console ... just my opinion, and opens a great debate !
i just recently became part of the aston family, this is going to be my first post..lol..
i come from a completely different side of the spectrum as a die hard mustang guy, got rid off my twin turbo, supercharged shelby to now a completely different driving experience. for me the power is truly lacking but everything else makes up for the shortfall although i was very surprised at how well the car pulled above 5k rpm. although i do not think i will ever be able to walk away from the mustang crowd, i am extremely happy and excited about this different level of auto enthusiasm i have now stepped into. truly a beautiful car that handles like a dream and although there are faster and more expensive cars out there, i do not have to worry about another pulling up next to me in traffic.
i found myself wanting to find a nice sophisticated vehicle in which i would have to do zero mods to it and just enjoy her............. i am already thinking of doing a turbo on this one..lol.. i love this car and believe that there will always be an aston martin in my drive way from this point forward!
