V12 Vantage Thoughts

The Austin Aston dealer has an interesting post on the new V12 Vantage about potential future values (http://astonmartinaustin.blogspot.com/2010/10/aston-martin-v12-future-collectible.html). What does everyone think about this topic? Does the potential for the car someday being valuable entered into the buy/no buy equation?

My thoughts were the same as every other time I bought a car. I love the way it looks and I love the way it drives. I don't want to baby it or garage it waiting for it to appreciate.

Take the DB 4/5/6 as an example ... storing it for 20/30 years - I could not do it ... driving and enjoying is way to tempting ... ok buy 2 I guess would be the correct answer !!!

Buying a car just because it may appreciate over 30 years is just crazy. Cars should never be looked at as an investment. Just a great ploy to sell more cars.

The only modern day sports car (in this price range) that I really believe will hold its value is the Ford GT. Was seriously considering it as opposed to the AM but not for the reason of a potential "investment".

I'm not allowed to buy cars to garage them. I am allowed to drive them and drive them often! Its just how my marriage has worked out.

I can relate to that. My wife already pokes fun that we have 4 kids and I have a real "practical" Vantage in the garage. I could only imagine what she would say if I never drove it.
