Brembo brake part numbers, etc
Brembo brake part numbers, etc
I am starting to consider my options with my 2007 Vantage regarding various brake maintenance issues and replacements vs upgrades. In talking to the dealer they are only discussing AM parts since everything is sourced from AM. I want to see what I can source directly from Brembo or the many Brembo dealers. The AM dealer can only provide me with AM part numbers and what I really want in Brembo part numbers. Has anyone figured out the Brembo part numbers for front and rear rotors--which I need to replace in the next couple of months. When changing out my brake pads I discovered that I had a damaged dust seal and I was able to get the Brembo part number off of it- 20 4872 46 - 40mm ID, 45mm OD, 3mm thick. When Googling that part number I found references to multiple cars so it is no means unique to AM. Does anyone know if the dust seal can just be popped back into place, or does it require rebuilding the caliper. Thanks for any information or a good part shop that can help me with these issues. Kent
Yes, I have the 2 piece rear rotors sitting in my living room for a few weeks and I am about to do the write up on them. They are extremely nice and ridiculously light (I will be doing dyno comparison of before & after to see if it will register on the dyno in conjunction with wheel weight reduction). They are a tad bit pricey at about $1500 for the rear pair ... but well worth it. Going to install them soon with Carbotech 1521 compound brake pads as soon as I get these wheels and e-brake pads.
If you give me about 2 weeks I should have the writeup done.
Unfortunately there is no front piece Brembo 2piece rotor set (I think Brembo is full of BS, They obviously make the hats, and they have the rotors ... they just don't want to compete with their own full GT kit so they pretend like they do not).
HOWEVER, AM is making the GT4 which comes with front 2-piece floating rotors, I have no idea how to source these. I can't imagine how ridiculously expensive they will be, but it should be 100% backwards compatible. Trying very hard to get as much info on them but no luck as of yet.
update & writeup coming soon ...

I was familiar with the BBK kits you are referring to. I would go for the 2 piece rotors front and back if I did not have to upgrade the front calipers. I would rather invest that 4K somewhere else.
What I was hoping someone on this forum could supply is the actual Brembo part numbers for the stock rotors so that I could buy them from someone besides the AM dealer.

Hello, well I believe the stock rotors are actually AM and not brembo. The calipers and etc are brembo but tue rotors are not to my knowledge. For this reason I chose to replace with brembo rotors. The brembo rotors with 1521 compound pads should last for the life of the car pretty much as long as you don't drive a ton. The carbotech pads are so gentle on the rotors that they greatly extend its lifetime compared to most pads which are basically carbide cutting tools lol.

The carbotech pads are the best for daily driving. They dust the least and make the least amount of noise due to their unique formulation. They are not track pads though, meant mainly for street driving

I too was looking at them as well, but went with the 1521 carbotech pads as they are the least abrasive of brake pads and are mainly a street pad.
The guys at carbotech have been a pleasure to work with and made a special set just for me. I believe the new product codes 1165, 1166 (instead of 1001 and I forget the other number).
Either the front or the rear is apparently the same as the Toureg believe it or not (with the sensor openings) ...

For track purposes I am using the Pagid RS-29 yellow enduro pads-- huge difference from stock. I am using the RS-29 on the street as well-- after 2 track sessions and breaking in the noise is no longer significant. For street purposes the Pagid RS4-2-2 is the stock pads.
