New Toy: Vantage or ???

What else did you consider when buying your Vantage?

I'm looking for the next toy and have been considering lots of stuff like 996TT, 997TT, Viper Coupe, GTR, XKR etc.

I know these are all over the place but they're all great options for varying reasons. Here are my questions:

1) What else did you look at?

2) Are you happy with Vantage?

3) How reliable are they?

4) Is basic maintenance ridiculously high such as GTR for example (brakes etc). I expect to pay to play but some cars are absurd.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Loved my 07 Vantage and looking at 2010's. However, I'm also looking at Gallardos. I keep coming back to Aston Martin though.

My car was extremely reliable and maintenance is not what you think it is-not all that bad at all.

I considered all of the above except the Viper. I also considered a Ford GT.

All of your questions have been addressed in this forum numerous times if you do a search. You will find that this car is very reliable (thanks to Ford) and only has some small issues.

I see you are in Austin as well...I bought mine at John Eagle AM/Bently in town. Service is a little more than a PCar, but nothing like a Ferrari or Lambo.

Very happy with the car, but took my time in deciding what was right for me.

Good luck and would be great to have another Vantage owner in Austin.

I came from Porsche's. I knew that I wanted a Vantage. The only other car I even remotely considered was the Z8, and that was before the Vantage in '06. I like cars that are unique, low production, timeless, evoke a sense of history and are drop dead gorgeous. I fell for the Vantage the way I fell for my wife.

in a sea of BMW's, Mercedes and Porsche's the Aston Martin is quite refreshing

I recently bought a Vantage and considered a SL65AMG, 997TT, Maserati GT, and Z06. The Vantage may not be in the same class as far as speed with others but stands out in looks- breathe taking. CRVETR best describes the vehicle. Maintenance is modest if you find a good local shop and do some research and fix things yourself.

Prior to purchase my V8V last year, looked at Maserati GranSport, 996TT, SL55AMG and M6 (E63). Absolutely loving it.

Consider the Audi R8. It's a remarkable ride.

Been away for awhile...

I'm Looking to be $70k or less. Hence I'm considering GTR, Viper SRT10 Coupe, XKR, and perhaps even squeeze into a 997 Turbo or Gran Turismo. Between the Vantage and Gran Turismo I like the idea of a 6spd a bit better. Seems that I keep coming back to the Vantage for its classy looks, sound, quality, rarity etc.

I came back to the Vantage after selling my 2007 and purchased a 2010 v8 vantage-love it!

Vantage was my first choice but after driving the Porsche. I went for driving feel, German build and reliability. I still drool over the looks of the Vantage.

at that price range, if you're looking for pure dynamic excellence, I'd get an 07 GT3. If course, they don't look like an Aston. But they're a far better drivers car. Don't get me wrong, I don't know if I'd take a GT3 over a Vantage, because there are so many other things to consider, but if driving pleasure is what you're looking for, the GT3 ticks the box better than anything else in the price range.

A GT3 must be a VERY different drive than a regular 997. I drove a 997 and was not impressed. It felt a bit normal. I didn't come away with a "holy cow the tightness, steering, sound, acceleration etc was impressive" sort of feeling.

Regarding build quality the interiors seem cheap. Especially compared to my old 993. You guys feel the 911 has a better build quality than the Vantage?
