Anyone purchase from Acute Performance?
Hey has anyone on this forum purchased wheels from Acute Performance? Any positive/negative feed back?
Apparently they are the "master distributor" of DPE wheels. I was reluctant to buy custom forged wheels again after the whole 360forged debacle a few years ago, but decided to pull the trigger on 20" DPE R16 version2 purchased through Acute Performance. They advertise on this forum. Left a $1000 deposit mid april. I was advised that the wheels would ship anywhere from 6-8 weeks....but "likely" in 2-3 weeks. Its has now been 7 weeks and apparently my centers are now being machined?! They told me my centers were being machined 4 weeks ago!
I asked Acute Performance if they could provide me a more up-to-date shipping time frame and they just seem to give me the run-around. No definitive time frame. 30 days? 60 days? A year? Who knows- they couldnt give me a date. I decided to purchase off Acute because they touted their high level of customer service, but as time rolls on, i personally dont feel like thats the case. I feel like 360forged (old management) replaying itself. I used to work retail sales dealing in custom orders, so im familiar with supply chain management. Although it may be difficult some times to zero in on an exact consumption date, our suppliers were always always able to provide an Eta. In turn we were able to update our customers.
Im hoping someone can dispel my fears and post some positive feedback about their experiences. Should i pull out of the deal and charge back the deposit? How do you guys think i should handle this? How much longer would you wait for custom wheels? Please post your experiences with other wheel companies.

I have no experience with Acute or DPE. However, I get the feeling that is the nature if the beast when it comes to custom wheels. It took around 3 months to get my HREs, after paying up front. I got very frustrated during the process but they did ultimately get me the wheels and make things right. They should be able to give you more info, but you've waited this long...might as well see it through. That was my reasoning because I knew it would take a while to restart the whole process...ultimately it worked out.

I take your 3 months ... and raise you 6 months .
Buying custom wheels, especially one offs like mine are not easy at all. It is a frustrating process, however I am being made whole and everything should be taken care of by later today hopefully.
If you are just looking for lighter wider wheels, the sport pack is a headache free (albeit expensive) option unless you can find them used for less.
I will be posting my review soon.

One of the best and easiest options for a stock car is to go with the Prodrive wheels...they are forged, lightweight, come with tires mounted, and are pretty cheap.

Where is a good place to get them?

Directly from Prodrive as far as I know. The nice thing is that they are light (listed at 5.5 lbs lighter at each corner than stock wheels), come with P Zero Corsas in larger than stock size, and the price is good...under $4000 including tires I think. They look good, too. The only thing that kept me from getting them was that I needed wider rears.
