Premium stereo questions

Is the optional stereo the premium or B & O. Which stereo has the tweeters rise from the dash? Which is 700 watts?

Every vantage i see on-line has the preium audio. Is that standard or optional?

Thx

G

Premium is the optional 700w Aston Martin stereo (made by Alpine I believe). The B & O is a (quite expensive) step up from the premium stereo option and has the speakers rise up out of the dash. I've heard mention that the B & O really isn't worth the cash since the premium option produces about 80% of the quality of the B & O at a much lower cost. I have the premium and it sounds nice once the settings are adjusted.

I really like a nice quality sounding stereo but there's no way I'd pay 7 grand for the 1000 Watt B&O. Not when the 700 watt Alpine sounds VERY nice and costs $1595.

My V12 has the 1,000 W B&O system. I had the premium stereo in my V8 and, honestly, I can't tell the difference. Both are spectacular IMO. The rising tweeters are kinda cool, but I wouldn't have paid up to get the B&O system just for that if I would have optioned my car.

No, the Premium Audio was not standard but it sounds fantastic. Now that I can play my iPod through it, I enjoy it even more.

I think the premium stereo sounds better than any aftermarket system I have installed in other cars. It is amazing!

Just curious if the B&O system adds much weight with the rising tweeters, etc. Anyone know?

If it does add weight, I'm sure it's not enough to make any difference in performance or gas mileage, if that's what you're getting at.

I have the B&O in my Vantage and here are my thoughts about it:

  • Sound positioning is superb (best of any car I’ve tried)
  • Surround is excellent
  • Bass is very good (was lack luster when I first bought the car though has improved greatly as the speakers break in (only had the car 1 month))
  • Treble is very good (though have heard better on aftermarket systems)
  • Mid Range lacks a bit
  • There’s no equalizer settings, and in fact no mid range adjustment
  • It has a low, med, high, and optimized settings for speed adjusted volume control, though none of the selections make any difference that I can tell
  • Plenty of power, 2/3 volume is VERY loud
  • Love being able to play and control mp3s from a flash drive (not sure if all systems have this or not)

Over all it’s a very nice system and the rising tweeters are cool, though probably doesn’t justify the cost difference over the Premium system.
