trickle charger

I live in the philadelphia and I recently purchased my v8V. I drive about once a week. When should I think about using my trickle charger? I was told I need it only once it get's colder, in say October. What does everyone else do up here in the north east?

Congrats on your recent purchase. Regardless of the weather, I believe it's a good idea to use the battery conditioner (i.e., trickle charger) whenever your car is not in use (unless your car serves as your daily driver). It will help to prolong the life of your battery. I do recall a few threads talking about this....you might wanna run a search.

How about some pics of your V8V?

There are some threads on this topic, which is how I learned a bit about it. I use my car a couple times a week so I've never used it until recently, as I am out of town for about 2 months.

If your car sits stationary for two weeks plus, always a good idea to use the trickle charger. As Macksamus mentioned, it's going to prolong the life of your battery.

Sorry, I am new and should have searched the threads. Sadly, I didn't even think that others would be as clueless as I am. Thanks I will look.

As for photos, i have three up on my wall so far. None are very good. I will work on that.

Brad.

I just purchased my 2007 V8V about five weeks ago, and the service department recommened I use the battery charger if the car was going to sit in the garage for a month or longer without being driven. I live in the midwest and we can have some pretty tough winters. If the weather is bad this winter, and the car is going to sit for long periods, I will probably leave the charger on regularly. For anyone who doesn't have a charger. I would recommend disconnecting the battery cables if the car is going to sit for a month or better. In the winter, don't hesitate to take the battery out of the car, and keep it in the basement, if the car isn't going to be driven. I know it's a hassle, but it will save the battery. Best option is obviously a battery charger/conditioner.

Do people also press that button in the trunk to shutoff all electronics? I read about this in the user manual so wondering if people have done that as well and if it helps anything.

i don't believe it's necessary to do that. the batter conditioner on its own is sufficient. you also don't want to go through the hassle of having to reprogram your radio stations etc if you push that button.

I live in Houston so don't have the same degree of cold weather to contend with that you do. However, If I'm planning to leave my car unused for more than 2-3 days I plug in the charger. Another tip I got from the dealer for caring for the car during extended periods of not driving is to run the petrol level to about 1/8th of a tank and then refill immediately when I drive it. This helps maintain good fuel condition.

Yes it does. Ob the DB9 it should be in the trunk in the recess on the right side with the tire inflation kit. Don't know for sure about where it is in the Vantage.

It's an option on the V8 Vantage.
