Clutch Not Disengaging
Clutch Not Disengaging
This is my first post so let me start by saying thanks for all the information I have already gained from the board. I'm a long time Porsche owner and racer but I just bought my first Aston Martin, a 2009 Vantage Roadster with 3k miles.
Here's my issue. Most of the time the Sportshift works fine but other times the clutch fails to disengage when I roll to a stop. Other times it engages when you first put it in gear and the RPMs start varying between 1200-1400. It's pretty strange. I tried resetting the clutch and it didn't seem to help. Any ideas?

One I found in the forum. A/C off, foot on brake, start car and wait for click. Is there another process? Thanks for your help.
That's the correct process, at least it's the official AM process. You can also try doing the same thing, but once the car is running, press the start button every 30 seconds or so for a few minutes.
If your not getting a error msg in the dash..sounds more like a sensor, either the slave cyl position sensor or on most ASM's the brake switch. The brake switch is the most common(if it's a ASM)
Is it manual or ASM??

Thanks for the help. Any chance the brake switch is an easy enough DIY. Actually it doesn't have to be that easy.

Yep, very easy. the brake switch is mounted on the brake pedal frame mount, if you were to buy the switch, that way you have it in hand..you be able to see how it looks and secured. Main rule is do not push on the brake pedal when installing, or else the adjustment will be off. There is a spacer that is supposed to be used when aligning, you place between the switch pin and the brake pedal arm to simulate a space gap..a simple piece of paper folded in half and shimmed in place is the same thing. The switch is just turned to remove, and turned to install..you can only install the switch one way, look at the switch there is a oval shape that needs to be lined up..if you need more help on explaining, pm me and I'll help you out
