Cats Installation
#31
I am very excited to have my CATs installed as well!

SOOOO..... Heres moment of truth....
After Max Power: 350.53HP, and 288lb.ft. torques!
Solid gains, that was cats only. RSC cats did the job. And its hella loud.

What was it pre cats with just the QS exhaust and Power upgrade?
#35
Right, but what is the before the CAT addition dyno? You were going to do a before & after.
You are just over 400hp assuming 15% loss post cats. I am about there with the powerpack and exhaust by themselves. The only way to see the gains from the cats is with a before dyno as you mentioned.

Did it as an update on my post from on pg 2.
PS. I assumed 20% drivetrain loss, what would make you say its 15%? The tech here said assume 20%, dunno.

Today's the day. Getting the cats installed and doing before and after dynos.
****UPDATE*****
Just did 'before' dynos and max power was 338hp at the wheels and 273lb ft. torques. Done on a dynojet, and video recorded. Will scan sheets for people tonight.
Its currently +31 degrees, 82% humidity, 30.58in pressure.

I have heard anywhere from 15-20%, but would trust the guys operating the dyno. 15% was playing it safe.....you can google the topic, a lot comes up but most say 15-20%.
How long did it take for the install? Did you do any type of a tune after cats?
#38
Yeah actually at 20% would exactly reflect the manufacters suggested HP. Stock is 380, and with the PP and Exhaust (20hp each when paired together), would be at 420, which is very close to what I ran if you do the calucations.
And add in 20 hp suggested by RSC the crank, is close to what I ran with the cats (after the calculation)
BTW I put on the filters as well, after the 'after' dyno, I wish I had time to do another one. Oh well.

FINAL AFTER UPDATE:
Ok so I bought my 2008 Aston Martin Vantage with the Aston Martin Powerpack and Quicksilver super sport exhaust (middle noise). Which put the car at about 420hp at the crank. I decided to add the RSC Sport Cats and because many people had asked I did a before and after dyno. The dyno was performed on a 'dynojet' and it had a built in adjustment which adjusted for the outside environment. Today it actually downplayed my numbers, so my initial posts were the adjusted numbers, my car actually ran stronger.
As far as my impressions go, I am blown away at how much lighter and quicker it is. Its quite a bit noticable that the car is going much faster then it ever has. It feels like it revs faster too (probably due to the RSC Filters). As far as the noise goes, its very loud. its a lot louder then it was, and almost too loud. I might have to get used it, and/or it might queit down once its broken in, or when its not soo cold out. Its a beautiful noise and its still very Aston Martin like. It almost sounds like the breif moments when you rev it just right to get the nice pur out of it, but it sounds like that all the time. I will have to wait and see if I get used to it, or it settles in. When I first got the it was a bit loud, but then it got too quiet for me.
UNADJUSTED NUMBERS
Before Max Power
Horsepower: 348.12
Torque Lb. Ft.: 280.75
After Max Power
Horsepower: 358.81
Torque Lb. Ft.: 294.81
Gains: 10.69hp and 14.12 lb. ft. torque
ADJUSTED NUMBERS
Before Max Power
Horsepower 338.6
Torque Lb. Ft. 273.07
After Max Power
Horsepower 350.53
Torque Lb. Ft. 288
Gains: 11.93hp and 14.93 lb. ft. torque
Here are some Youtube videos of the car on the dyno, before and after the cats.
CAUTION: LOWER YOUR SPEAKER VOLUME
Before Cats
After Cats
I'll try to attached sound clips if I can convert them to the proper format.

Excellent, thanks for the dyno numbers. Do you have a HQ scan of the actual dyno sheet of before vs. After.
With that said, 12hp & 15tq is roughly 15hp & 18tq at the crank. Thats very solid numbers (although slightly less than some estimates) is still very good numbers. Im sure a slight adjustment to ecu would help even more.
I would like to see the dyno sheet in order to see exactly where in the rpm band is made.
Thanks again CJ for taking the initiative to do the dyno for the V8V community, you have definitely done a huge service for all of the vantage owners!

Thanks CJ, great results. I have been quoting 15BHP at the crank, and similar on torque based on results we've seen for other combinations of exhaust, cats, filters, ecu, good to see we were in the right ballpark.
You can also see that while the majority of the HP gains were towards the top end, the torque gains come on from quite low in the RPM range all through the middle RPM.

Youre welcome guys.
Can anyone help with the sound on this setup? Its a bit loud for now, will I get used to it, or will it queit down after a few hundred miles? It has the cats and a quicksilver exhaust.
Thanks
