iPod freezes

The ipod mode on my 08 vantage freezes very often and gets stuck on a song. I can select other modes like sat radio or cd but when I come back to the iPod mode it is frozen. I have to turn the car off wait 10 minutes and restart the whole thing for the iPod mode to be accessible again. Did any of you encountered this issue? Is there any solution other than going to the dealer and get it checked out?

It's probably helpful if you list the type and generation of iPod you have as well as the version of the iPod software you have installed on it. Have you tired upgrading the iPod to the most recent software version?

It's an iPod classic 5th generation and the software is up to date. I should maybe clarify, the iPod itself doesn't freeze it is the "iPod mode" of the premium Aston stereo system that freezes it stays stuck on the song it was playing.

There have been issues of the cable that feeds the module from your ipod to go bad, and cases where the module itself locking up. You may need to take it in. Any way to try a different ipod to see if it still locks up?

I'll try to use a different iPod see if it makes a difference. In case the cable has gone bad where can I order a new one?

Let me rephrase this....

There are two cables for the iPod. One goes from the iPod to the car, short cable about a foot long. The other goes from the center console to the module. It is pretty long depends on where the module is, they move it alot. The longer one is the one I have seen go bad. This is a dealer only part. You have to remove the center console and parts of the rear enviroment to get it replaced. Where the longer cable attaches to the center console is where it goes bad. The bend or angle damages the cable.

Now there is also a updated module for the newer iPods to work and charge in the car. But, this is not warranty item. You would have to pay for the newer module and install labor. But, if you have an older 5th gen, you should not have to do this.

Ok thank you very much for your input. I'll bring it up next time that I'm at the dealer. It doesn't bother me so much for now as I rather enjoy the exhaust sound than my iPod playlist..:-)

I had a case of the infotainment screen freezing on the iPod mode and the client could not change from that mode, also once it froze no further requests of the iPod could not be done,,skip song, pause, play, stop..etc..don't know if this is similar to you concern..it was on the first model vantage of the iPod cable in the center console storage box connector...think that was 2008 Vantage came with the iPod and USB in the center, so car must of been a '08 and had under 1000km's

Concern was solved by a infotainment flash asked by AMtech..did the flash and client never had the concern anymore..

Since the freezing issue was always happening just after i turned the car on, I found that unplugging the iPod after I turn the car off does the trick. I have been doing that for about a week now and no more iPod problem. I unplug the ipod when i park the car and plug it back in after I start it. I might still get the system checked at the dealership on the next service but this quick fix works for now.
