Take the V8V S to Disney from NJ?

Being that I've given up on the whole flying thing I was wondering if I should take the car down the east coast for our trip to florida at the end of the year. I'm not so much worried about the drive, rather parking at the resort in Disney. My wife and daughter are flying - they have no interest in a 17 hour (maybe 13 the way I drive) car ride.

Anyone know if there's a Valet service at the resort? We're probably staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

I've given up on the whole valet parking thing. Risky IMO.

parking

I took my Continental GT to Disney with no issues. While waiting for my kids to get into their stroller, a passer-by didn't realize I was the owner and made a comment that "they would never park a car like that here", but I think it was quickly lost in the field of cars. I was concerned about others door dinging, but I controlled the spacing as I pulled in at a shallow angle. The next three rows of parking were full within minutes so there was no more traffic going by, either on foot or wheels. We buy these cars to enjoy them and the trip will be worth it. Worries of theft or damage are unlikely there, in a park with elevated security towers and an interest in keeping the brand name clean and clear of "dangerous break-in situations". Just my $0.02.

We're spending a week there and my plan was to drive it to the hotel, give it to them to park and not see it again until I drove home. Being that we're staying on the grounds I don't see any need for having a car. We may end up going to universal for a day but I would need something with four seats so will most likely rent a car that day.

I have my car valet parked all the time. Never had an issue. Typically the hotel or restaraunt will keep the car parked out from as it adds to the high-end feel of the restaraunt or resort. You have insurance right? Enjoy the ride and don't worry.

Call the hotel, tell them your concern and ask if there is a "safe" place to park -- see what they say. I think the odds of someone intentionally damaging it at Disney are remote, but carelessness is everywhere.

I would never valet any car I care about. Years ago I worked as a valet at a country club for a summer. I got the job through a friend because another valet took a 928 for a little ride -- and hit a tree... I saw a few other things when I was there -- suffice it to say that I will never allow a valet to park my Aston.

I've heard too many stories like this. Also, I've had damage to my other cars when I valeted, but unfortunately didn't see the damage until the next day and therefore couldn't prove that it was due to the valet. Yes, I have insurance, but who wants their car to be damaged and to have it fixed when you could just avoid the damage in the first place.

I live on the coast, if you want to drive it here and park it I'd be glad to drive you over and pick you up when you're ready to go.

I would never trust the car sitting in a hotel for a week and not have my keys... big chance valet will take it for a joy ride at least once during the week if they know how long you are staying. if you are at a Vegas or Atlantic City casino then that is a different story.

I stayed at a Hilton there when I had an aluminum bodied Panoz. They valeted it hidden away. The 3 of us took shuttles or cabs to eat, Disney, etc. I called the hotel and they worked it out. No problems.

Are you worried about 1200 miles with road rash etc on the drive south?

Thinking of buying a car down in tampa and not sure if I want to wait 10 days for the truck of fly out and drive it back

All joking aside, you're welcome to park it at my house in the garage. Depending on where you're going, I live about 10 minutes from Disney. Heck, I'll even let you borrow my Hummer. It's on 40" tires, so no worries about door dings.

PM me if you're interested.

Try not to valet Your V8V S if possible, the valet at Capital Grill didn't know how to release the parking brake in my V8V. That was the last time I valet my car....

You'll be fine. I'd park it myself at the hotel - you can just follow routine and tuck it into a corner somewhere. At the parks they shuttle you into a row with traffic, and you can avoid being too close to someone else by finding a wider spot that has a light in it or going to the end of the row where they typically have a no parking area beside the traffic lane effectively making a wider spot. Everyone pulls in at the same time, so you can sort of get out of your car and just linger there while the person next to you unloads their strollers and other gear. Most people will be careful when you are standing right there. I did the trip last year and am doing it again in a few weeks - got some rock chips but no dings or other issues.
