Hello - I recently purchased a 2007 model year V8 Vantage. The dash facia includes phone buttons. I understand these may be for a GSM phone as the 07's did not yet included bluetooth.

The build sheet data I obtained from one a dealer for this specific VIN does not indicate a GSM phone either as standard or optional as installed on the vehicle.

Question(s): Did AM by default install GSM phones in all V8 Vantages 07 model year? If so, anyone have any idea where a SIM card may be inserted to make the phone active?

or - did AM include these simply to fill up dash facia space and in fact the vehicle does not include a GSM phone?

Any assist is appreciated. Also, I am considering installing a Parrot system for bluetooth and Ipod interface. Anyone have experience with this system?

Thanks!

Robert

If I remember correctly, the sim card was really a UK thing. If you had a slot it would be where the Passenger Air Bag Light is on the center fascia. If you have a light, then no slot, means no phone. The phone buttons were a general use thing on all db9's and v8's.

I have seen the new Parrot system, not much interaction with it. Some people liked it, others didnt. Try to get a demo of the system first, before you pay to have it installed.

I had a 2007 V8V with Bluetooth in it. Are you sure yours does not?

My '07 did not come with blue tooth... I installed a parrot system. It works just fine. I also integrated my iPhone with the XM/Sirius integrated cradel. This gives me Ipod, Tom-Tom Nav, Pandora... it's a really really good set-up.

The "number pad" comes into play with the CD changer & radio presets. Also, holding 8 & 9 while turning the ignition key parks the wiper arms vertically on the windshield for washing or changing the blades. Once vertical you can remove the key; the next time you turn they key they they return to horizontal. Hold 4 & 5 while turning the key to switch between Celsius & Fahrenheit temperature display.

If you ordered it when you ordered your car cause it was a factory fit only. We were able to get dealer kits for awhile, but not any more. There to expensive.

@Axarunner - your system description is exactly what I want to do with my 07 - bluetooth, Ipod, as well as Sirius radio. All are possible with the Parrot system? I haven't seen a Parrot system except at their website, so perhaps you can better explain how the Ipod integrated with your Sirius cradle.

Pics of your install would be very much appreciated. Did you go with the i9100 or the i9200 system?

Thanks!

@Scottblack - if my 07 comes equipped with bluetooth, I cannot as yet figure out how to turn on that function. The dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle told me it is not equipped with bluetooth.

On your steering wheel have you a button with a head thats showing it's talking.
If so press it it should say pair phone and enter1234 and so on.

Im guessing if you don't have BT no button.
