About to switch from 06' V8V to 11' V8VS, tips?
Hey guys,
Well the time and opportunity have come for me to get from my 06' V8V to a new 11' V8VS. The difference from the two is almost night and day on features and power. The Sportshift II seems like it will be taking a little time to get used to, but hopefully having the OEM warranty will bring peace of mind to this upcoming substantial purchase.
Any details, tips, tricks or warnings on transitioning between the two? I'll tell you the 50HP makes a hell of a difference and the craftsmanship and details of the "S" is the best I can get unless going into a V12V.
Glad I was able to stay in the Aston Martin family.

My tip?
Be prepared for a revelation
Seriously they are poles apart
The S handles sooooo much better.
Only thing I've done different on my S is Fuse 15 rather than Fuse 22
And leave the sport button in to get better throttle response.

I don't have much to add but just wanted to wish you the best with the S.
I look forward to getting your perspective on the differences. I am in a 2007 and love it ... can't imagine how much better the S is!!

Sport button always on the S! Just a tip, I've found that reverse gear with the sport button engaged tends to slip the clutch less - not a bad thing for clutch wear. With the sport button engaged the exhaust opens up at around 3500 rpm. I didn't pull fuse 15 because I actually like the ability to "go stealth" when I need to.
Sportshift II is nice. For best results don't leave it automatic mode and lift slightly off the accelerator when changing up in gear. Also, at low rpms try to give it constant gas or it can have a tendency to buck - not violently, but it is noticeable - especially when cold.
You're in for a hell of a ride! I had a deposit down for a 991 Turbo, but I'll be keeping the S. The turbo will probably do 0-60 in 2.5s or so, but the S is so much more visceral than any of my previous Porsches. It's not as fast, but it's lots of fun.
Be very careful with the front splitter. I pulled in too close once and luckily the curb was about 1/4" shorter than the lip. It's not something you want to replace.

Out of curiosity, what happens when you don't lift when upshifting? Do you lift just to make the shift smoother?
My last ASM1 car it made a difference
I started off by doing it in the ASM2 car but gave up after I found no benefit
(in fact the opposite with the sport button in)
One other tip get the front splitter covered in Venture Shield, it is better then the film the factory puts on and covers more of the £5k's worth of CF

The tranny shifting in auto mode does take some getting use to. It feels as though it needs time to up shift, and it goes up to seventh gear in no time. Dont try sippin on starbucks unless you time it just right!
Paddle shifting in sport is phenominal, especially the way the throttle blips when downshifting.

Comfort mode just makes everything slower
Congrats!! Were you like a kid at Christmas waiting to take delivery of your beautiful new car? I know I had trouble sleeping the night before I picked mine up. I would be interested in your feedback on comparing the differences between an 06 and the 11.
Enjoy!
