Sport Pack Wheels
Sport Pack Wheels
A couple of threads have been posted regarding the weight of the stock wheels for the Vantage....any ideas what the weight of the 5 spoke sport pack (lightwheel OEM) wheels are?
I have also noticed mine seem to be pitting slightly. They seem to be very poor in durability as I clean the wheels in between washes. Anyone had issues with small pitting/flaking in the painted wheel?

Stock wheels are about 23 lbs front and 26lbs rear, the sport pack wheels are about 1-1.5 lbs lighter front & rear. For reference, my super lightweight forged Rennens were 21.5 lbs front and 22.5 lbs rear (which is about as light as you can get for a good looking wheel, and lighter and they start getting ugly).
So considering the sport pack wheels are pressure cast and not forged, the wheels are pretty light as is for such a good looking wheel. If I were to choose between sport pack wheels or Going custom forged aftermarket again (given what a huge pain in the *** it is to sort everything out) I now would choose just getting the simple easy OEM solution: sport pack 5-spokes. They are the best looking OEM wheel IMO to this day and the only downside to them is they don't come wider in the rear, other then that they are the perfect solution

Really? We are talking the V8 Vantage, 2009 MY up, 5 sets of double spokes, diamond polished? All the contemporary reviews as well as the Aston brochures stated they were forged. Do you have a document stating they are pressure cast?
He's wrong...the wheels are forged.
OK-I found an old thread that shows weights for the stock wheels.

007-I did some digging around and everything points to the sportpack as being 2.2lbs saving of unsprung weight over stock. Not much, in fact my tires saved me more. They sure look good though.
JR-I think mine may be small rock chips? Upon close inspection its not really flaking, there are just several small dings on the spokes mostly. These may just be fragile wheels.

I really like the sport pack 5 split spoke wheels, they are perfect for the DB9 as well, and the titanium wheel nuts just set off the look just right! Dunno if vantage has these same ones or if there are some differences between the sport pack wheels between the 2 models, or if the vantage has the titanium wheelnuts also?

Anyone know how much they cost from the dealership?
2.2 lbs is quite a bit, it's about as light as you can possible get. That plus a set of 2-piece rotors will add up to a significant amount of weight reduction.

What about a set of aftermarket wheels? Yeah, I'm a representative for a wheel company, but you can get the weight savings, plus additional wheel designs, other customization options and any number of configurations that way. Just an option to consider!
