V12V hood on V8VS

I really like the hood on the V12V. I was thinking of adding it to my V8Vs but my gut tells me it may be cheesy..

My V8VS has no badges and 99% would never realize the mismatched hood and by no means would I be trying to pull off the that I have a v12 under the hood. I simply like the hood however I do not want to be looked upon as an impostor..LOL

I am sure you guys understand what I am talking about..

What do you guys think?

I don't think it'd be that bad at all... at the end of the day, if you like it, go for it!

95% of people do not realize its an Aston Martin. 99% do not even know a V12 Vantage exists and 99.9% would not know the difference between the S and the 12.

These numbers are of course made up, but I would bet they are not far from the truth. If you like it, go for it!

What he said!!! agree 100%....hahaha made me LOL funny but very true. By far best post of the day....Thanks for the laugh.

I get Bentley or Maserati with a question mark about 60/40 90% of the time with the DBS but people love it and I love it that they don't know keeps it mysterious..

Here's the thing with this 99% would not know the difference between the v12v and v8vs nor any other model so your modded bonnet wouldn't make a difference their, those 1% who did know the difference wouldn't be able to differentiate your car be it the v12v or v8vs if there is no other different feature then the Bonnet so you would have them scratching their heads if the car is de-badged. So in the end you would be effectively being a potential imposter (if thats what you want to call it from your original post) to a very very small number of people who wouldn't know for sure since the car is de-badged lol

I'm gonna go with "cheesy." Because the hood vents are the primary way of distinguishing the V12 from the V8, it's basically the same as putting a "turbo" badge on a non-turbo car. While the vast majority of people don't know anything about Astons, you'd probably cringe every time someone with knowledge of the marque came up to you and said "wow, is that a V12 Vantage?" And trust me, this does happen from time to time.

Although I agree its a minor difference, racer x is right. I'm sure you are proud of your car and its always fun to bump into another Aston owner here or there... You'd undoubtedly feel like presenting an explanation about "why I did it" and that would suck.

You know what they say about opinions... It's your car, rock it out any way you want to just be aware of the consequences.

Reminds me of my Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Sport. Has a huge hood scoop on it. When I first was looking at it on the dealer lot I said 'cool - must have fresh air induction and a little more power'. Then I popped the hood....the vent was fake and just bolted atop the hood at the factory.

I turned to the salesman and said "What's the point?" Its not doing anything.

And that's how I feel about scoops/spoilers/ground effects, et al.

I wouldn't quite say that about the V12 hood. The louvres are actually functional pieces designed to aid in venting hot air from the engine compartment. One of the biggest problems the GT4 (V8 powered) race cars face is underbonnet temperatures, and how to get more air flow through the engine compartment. I'm not surprised with that big V12 lump under the hood that they added some functional vents, althought the carbon is definitely window dressing.

I was just looking on the Vantage Collection's website they used to have stuff for DB9 as well but I can't see anything there now, did they change to just doing Vantage aftermarket parts now? anyone know...

I guess its something to think about. I pulled the badge off the rear simply because it did not look right in my opinion being the only thing back there polished. I painted it black but it stuck out like a sore thumb..

Its funny you guys mention. Everyone asks if its a DB9 or they have no idea what kind of car it is.

I simply like the look of the hood.

Hmmm.

I (and others) have added the N420 diffuser, but my car is not an N420. I really like the aggressive look and IMO it is one of the sole additions Aston did to a perfect initial design that made it better.

Others still have added the N400 sills and the V12V sills....but it they are not N400's nor V12's. Never on this forum have I seen anyone accusing them of being cheesy and trying to make it something it was not. Adding a V12 Vantage badge would confirm the latter.

If you simply like the look, who cares. Stuart even sells a V12 hood for this very reason.
