High Mileage DB9's and other oil options
I think the DB can go easily to 100k and beyond. The cars are built well. In the uk there are some with this sort of mileage on them already. As for oil recommendations there is a sticky on the top of the forum that can help.
Listen to him! Only run what AM recommends! I always find it humorous when owners think they know better than the engineers! A 0-20 oil is way to thin for this engine and I would venture to guess would cause significant engine wear on the bearings and piston rings.
^^^ You may like to contact your local AM dealer or exotic car mechanic to offer advice on which lubricants to run, I am planning on doing a full fluids flush sometime within the next 5-10K miles on my DB9, I plan on keeping records of the lubricants used, type, and specificaitons. My DB is a 6spd manual with sport pack.

^^^ Still trying to sell it, I will be taking a MASSIVE loss on that depreciation cinder block. the car is perfect inside and out, runs perfect, will outrun anything on the road, I have 25 grand in mods, plus I have a CSC warrantly on it until May 2014...I have it priced for $42 grand...lots of compliments, some lookers, some tire kickers, a couple of potential buyers but they couldnt come up with the money so back on the market. To think this car cost $160K and now I'll be lucky to get 40 grand for it and that's with 25K in upgrades, I am done with Mercedes, the letters AMG = depeciation magnet!
^^^ I wanted my DB9 optioned with a manual gearbox and sport pack. The 6 speed is great, really tight and with a dual disc clutch (DB manuals have them, Vantage manauls are singel disc, DB needs more clamping force due to more tq) shifting is very postive and the gearbox is solid. Whenever I have a choice between a manual shift or otherwise I prefer a manual shift. I love actually engaging with the gears and driving the car, I'm in my mid 30's maybe that will change as I age, dunno...but for now if I can row the gears I will go for that.
As for the SL55, something has to go...I live in the city and already have to use 2 alternate loactions one for my race car, the other for my SL55, having personal garage space in the city is tough, I was lucky enough to have a 2 car tandem garage for my Aston DB9 and Porsche GT2 there and my DD just outside in front...so not enough space to store stuff. Plus I don't need 2 cars which are both GT bruisers, although the hardtop convertible in the SL55 is nice on warm summer nights. Figure do some re-arranging and pick uo something Italian next

Hehe..so is this topic still about oil? I can't compete with the exotic list of cars, but I have driven more Aston's then anyone here..BooYah!!! Eat That!! Lol!!
For the engine oil, stick with the original regardless of the mileage. When I do a tear down and rebuilt I use 10W30 for a break-in, during this time I've always had the sump pump seal howl at low rpm, dump the oil and put the original Mobil 1..noise goes away. Cosworth really did there homework on things, didn't just take the first offered sponsor to come there way..if u have the owners manual, Aston's are really in-depth, all fluid specs are in there as well
