Remote Programming

1997 DB7 (USA), anyone know the method of programming an additional remote for mere mortals? Or can anyone point me to the section of the service manual where this ancient secret is revealed? It's an easy task on the Jaguars of that year.

Thanks.

Wow..your really making my brain work early in the morning...K
  • insert ignition key
  • hold headlamp stalk switch active(headlamps turned on)
  • turn key to position I
  • flash headlamps 3 times for '97 or 4 times for '98
  • confirmatuib chirp will sound and LED will flash once to indicate "learn mode" by the PATS light
  • press unlock button on each remote, chirp will sound for each remote learnt
  • turn of ignition and a chirp will sound to confirm "learn mode" has finished

I never tried, but it's worth a shot..somethings telling me you might have to flash the lights 5 times for 2000+...I could very well be wrong though

Hi, Irish07 thanks for answering my question about programming the remote. I think I'm doing something wrong as I can't get the expected results you listed. If I can ask further, I put the key in the ignition and held the stalk back to activate the high beams. With the stalk back I switched the key to position 1 and then flashed the lights 3 times. No chirp, no light. Tried with the headlight stalk in all three positions and any number of combos, same result including continually holding it back after the flashes and releasing it after the flashes. Tried flashing three and then tried four times. Even tried moving to the next steps with no joy. Never could get that chirp! Can you tell me where I'm going wrong? Thanks much, I really appreciate it.
