Sure its not your brakes dragging? Water on iron brake rotors creates a surface layer of instant rust that will drag onto the calipers and make a squeak for a mile or two. Goes away pretty fast.

22000km is nothing! These cars are pretty robust and get better when driven regularly. Don't forget that few owners post on the forums when things are going well (which is most of the time).

makes me feel a bit better, hearing that is low mileage most guys never drive their high end cars,,,they seem to remain ornaments.

My problem is that when i drive i tend to be enthusiastic that said I never over rev or abuse the clutch, in my time with vantage I have only hit the governor twice being drawn into the experience and not monitoring the rev counter

Look at the lower idler pulley(drivers side)..there is an old version and new version of idler pulley. Most of all 4.3L's had the old style round edged pulley. The new style has walls on the pulley to align the belt better for the next pulley in-line to come. If engine squeaked on a cold start and noise went away when warm...9/10 the engine still had the old style idler pulley, fix would be the new idler pulley (standard on 4.7L) and new belt for the new spec pulley..

If the belt squeaked when cold..and did not go away when warm, either belt has coolant or engine oil on it..trace the leak and fix..then replace the belt and idler pulley if it's stil lthe old style...9/10 if this was the case, air/oil seperater was leaking from the o-ring(AD23-3B9623-AA), replace o-ring to delete the concern and wash engine with belt off..dry everything and then fit the new belt and new pulley

Newer belt for newer pulley: 9G33-8620-AA
Newer idler pulley: 9G33-19A216-AA

Yep.
Just had the same issue with my '08 (20,000 mi). Just the olde style pully. Dealer put the new one on and the little squeek is gone.

Very common problem, my dealer replaced the pulley and belt and noise is gone.

Thanks dude! What's the rough cost on these +/- the labour? I think I have the latter issue.

From viewing underneith, there is a black metal bracket bolted to the timing cover by to 8mm head bolts(bracket holds a plastic oil pipe in place)..this bracket is inline with the tensioner and the ilder pulley in question.

The manual will most prob show the old style pulley, even if it's the latest 2013 edition(no need to redo photo's for just a pulley)..the rounded idler pulley is what needs to be replaced with the newer wall styled idler pulley
