Infotainment module V8V
Hi guys,
I'm a french owner of a '06 V8V. I've got it since 1.5 year, and it has 44000 km (25000 miles).
One week ago, I met a problem with the radio/cd/navigation system.
When it is on, it last 45 seconds, resets 2 seconds and starts again for another 45 seconds and then stops again...
I tought it was because of a "low battery" message, but after having reconditionned it with my MXS 5.0, the radio continues going bad.
I've measured 12.5 V on the battery (engine off) and 14.75 V when running 1000 to 4000 revs.
My AM local dealer told me instantly it was a problem on the infotainment module that had to be changed. The cost for this is about 3500 €
!!!!
Do you guys know about this ?
Do you think I could change it another way ?
Thank you very much for your support !

LOL

May we speak in english if it is easier for you ?
In the part list, I cannot find the piece you're speaking about.
Could you give me the schematics or a link to it ?

But Aston Martin has stock right now only of 4G43-38-10585 ..which includes the Infotainment Module(ICU) and Driver Gauge Cluster(DIM)...the new ICU needs a new DIM to communicate with for the 2006 model year..2007 is different and Aston still has stock for 2007 models..when that stock runs out they will be doing the same thing as the 2006 model years..replacing the ICU and DIM together..

OK understood.
The original ref is no more available, so I've got to change two pieces instead of one.
In your opinion, is the only #8 piece out of order or is it possible something else has failed ?

Correct..
It is very possible, did they have any fault codes?
The power to the module would need to be inspected, if module has battery and ignition power, plus a good ground feed and the M.O.S.T network is up and running..I would then say it's the module rebooting for no reason explained yet, possible internal micro relay concern or bad solder..I would then get the module repaired before replaced..might only be just a 2 second fix that costs you 50$ to inspect and repair a split solder joint..versus the $3000+ for new modules

I don't have any fault code as I didn't bring the car to my AM dealer.
They only made a phone-diag. In two second, they knew it was this failing piece.
As I told before, the failing was preceded by a "low battery" message. I guess the module went wrong with a too much amount of power.
I guess the car battery will have to be changed, not to risk any other damage.
I think I'll try the following:
- confirm the diag by people on forums or at my AM dealer
- try to fix the module first
- If I can't, try to replace it by a used one (can be found on ebay or astonmartinbits)
- Last thing, go to cash 3500 €
I want to add that any other part in the car is malfunctionning.

The "Low Battery" is normal..the battery can be near 100%, think the cut off is 12.1v, that is when the msg will display on the dash and shut off all accessories untill engine is started and 14V is achieved, then the accessories wil lcome back to life.
If the vehicle has never been to the dealer..first I would disconnect the battery(both terminals) and touch them together for 20 seconds, this will remove any surface charge in the system and reset all modules..connect the battery back up and start the vehicle..does the infotainment system now function correcty..Yes or No?
Yes: done deal, you fixed the concern and the fault was just a module needed to be reset..
No: A phone or online forum diagnostic will not help you out much, you will be limited and chasing your tale on this one..in the end you would be yelling at the car TABERNAC ESTI TAPPET!!!! LOL
..I would take the car to the dealer and have it scanned..there are other modules that can trigger the on/off of the radio if the ignition power and M.O.S.T network are not up and running correctly to the ICM ..if the msg keeps flashing on the radio "Low Battery" and the vehicle is running with 14V, ignition/batt/ground feeds would need to be inspected for concerns..
