I agree. Over 4.0 to 62 is too slow for a carbon fibre bodied car with a 500+ hp V12 in it.
That is no faster than my V12 and its aluminum with a full roof etc. it's also slower than the similarly powered R8V10 I owned. Again that car had a full roof and weighed 3700 lbs+

They've made two and sold both
I guess they are looking for the halo effect to sell the standard cars

Perhaps, but I'm still curious what she can actually do. Maybe mid 3s to 60? Also must handle really well without all the additional mass.

Performance, performance, performance. Give it a rest, will ya? This car is already an iconic Aston Martin, and the very well heeled people who are getting these two cars don't give two hoots about performance, as long as it is adequate...and it is.
Y'all need to go buy a GTR, or a Viper, or a Lambo, or an R8, or a 911 Turbo, or a whatever. You don't 'get' Astons and never will.
BTW, not picking on you directly, just using your quote...

Totally agree, I didn't buy an Aston for performance. I bought it because my wife said it is the best looking car on the road, and I agreed with her.
I have another car that weighs 2400 pounds with me in it and develops 624 ft-lbs of torque. It has performance that can't be used anywhere.

First off we do get Aston Martin. Just because you don't agree with us, does not mean we don't "get it", and no one is suggesting the performance bar is a GTR. That's just stupid and not the point. BTW, I ran my V12 Vantage and my R8 V10 at the same time and the V12 Vantage is the more visceral car. The R8 V10 at 200lbs less was quieter and faster. I can tell you from first hand experience that I know the difference between the two cars. I am not asking Aston to be an R8, a Lamborghini, a GTR etc.
Aston does not just make one kind of car, as a result it has different kinds of customers. They have a history of building some very fast cars. From LeMans racers in the past and In recent times V12 Vantage and the amazing Zagato. Plus at this very moment they are leading the Nurburgring 24 hours. So performance is a very real PART of the brand.
But more to the point THIS car is not a GT car for dentists to go golfing in. THIS car is an homage to an historically significant race car (the non-road car based, purpose built 1959 leMans winning DBR1 race car). Performance IS the POINT. It is a celebration of a car that was the fastest and the best of its generation, who's only purpose was to win. To reduce it to a styling exercise is missing the point.
But curiously it has a carbon fibre body and an additional 40hp but is no faster than a V12 Vantage or the Zagato??
It is sublime to look at and I'm sure its an amazing experience, but this is not a GT car, it lacks proper doors, roof, windshield etc. It is a homage to a race car, as such it should be much lighter, more raw and focused. It should be extreme in every way.
