Crazy Thing
I considered the 458 as a next vehicle long before I committed to the McLAren. After I drove both cars, it was really impossible to buy the Ferrari. The 458 is a great car. I have no hate for it. You can't deny the engineering and ease of use with the McLaren though. The experience with buying the car at McLaren Philadelphia also made a difference. I looked at a Scud as well, over year before I bought the McLaren. I happen to find that car more appealing than the 458. I can't put my finger on it but it just seems more thought through in terms of its design.
The most evident difference is the neutrality of the 12C in all conditions. I never feel a sense of danger when I am pushing the car. I have had 911's with and with out turbos that gave me the ******* on occasion. The V12V was very much like a GT3 in a tux. I always felt the need to back off to save me and the car. The 12C delivers greater confidence. It is always glued to the ground and lets you stay on throttle more often. I think that the precision of the car is the "lack of drama" that people complain about. I have had past cars pulled out of someones front garden and an embankment. So I really don't need any more drama.
