New Product!!!! V8 Vantage Performance Catalysts for Late Model Cars

All new from Velocity Automotive Performance Limited!

The 2011-on V8 Vantage has a different manifold & cat assembly to the earlier cars. Although the entire assembly can be replaced as one, and our 200 cell motorsport catalysts can be fitted alongside our performance manifolds/headers, there has been no option for those who just wish to change out the secondary catalysts.

No longer!!! You can now change secondary catalysts on the late model cars for high flow 100 cell units, with all the ancillary benefits. More power, more sporting sound. All backed by our 25 year warranty against corrosion and workmanship.

What's the major difference on 2011+ headers and cats?

Also, I do not see any 02 sensor bungs on the cats... Did Aston put primary cats in the headers and had secondary cats after the header flange?

Thanks

The late model cars have the primaries & secondaries separated, as opposed to the integral units in the earlier cars. Done for the same reason as the V12 cars, the cats are closer to the exhaust ports & therefor preheat faster and score better on emissions. It is still possible to retrofit an aftermarket header (watch this space, there's a new one that will be out soon that will trump all others ) along with a 200 cell sports catalyst designed for the earlier MY cars. The overall dimensions are the same for the two pieces, so 1/2 are not interchangeable, but 2/2 are. The only additional requirement is an O2 harness extension for the late model cars, to move the O2 sensors back to the early MY location post-manifold.

If the 02 sensors are in the headers by the primaries, can you just delete the secondaries all together side they are aft of the primary rear 02 sensor?

Have you tried to do that?

Yes you can, and no we have not done that yet, at least not on a Vantage. On a V12 engined car yes. But many customers don't want to do away with the secondary catalysts all together for a variety of reasons.

Stuart, does Velocity have V12 headers? If so, do you have dyno/weight data? If not, do you plan to develop them and when?

We are in the process of jigging from the OEM parts & designing as we speak!

Oh I see. Will you get check engine light if you bypass secondary cats? Usually the case is no, but these astons are finicky when it comes to emissions so I want to be sure. Thanks

Well, congratulations in advance then! I'm guessing you're going with a V8 rather than a V12V then?

FWIW, I think the ultimate route to go with cats etc. on the later model cars is to change headers & cats at the same time, and revert to the early MY setup with the single 200 cell catalysts in the transmission tunnel, with the O2 locations moved back down there.

Why is that a better setup? Just curious... How much do high flow cats make power wise on the late model V8s? Same as the earlier ones, less or more?

Thanks

The high-flow cats on the later models make less HP, you're only replacing the secondaries. The reason the earlier setup is better is because the cat-less headers, and the downstream 200 cell single primary catalysts are already developed and on the market. I supposed you could develop a header with the cat integrated into it, and a test-pipe downstream from that, but you would be severely compromised in the header design due to the need to locate the single catalyst there.

There's no need to reinvent the wheel. There is a reason even the late model GT4 cars use the same setup as this (albeit still with the poorly designed OEM manifolds.)

So what will be the exact differences for an 11 v8S ?

I'm assuming by exact differences you mean power gains? I have not had the chance to gather data on these as a stand-alone mod, but based on my experience with the earlier cars, and the V12 engined cars changing the secondaries, I think 10-12BHP would be a fair estimate.
