Clicking noise speed related from outside rear
Clicking noise speed related from outside rear
Been driving the car the other day and I get a clicking noise the faster I drive. It comes from the rear left as far as I can tell.
Doing some googling I have found it to be symptomatic of CV joint failure? But my car has only done under 30,000 miles so is that not a bit premature for failure.

I 2nd that..the CV axles make the same type of clicking, but the clicking is from the front wheels when turning on a front drive driven vehicle..not your case..
I would hope for a rock in the thread..but suspect a nail, get it checked

EXACT same thing happend to me within 2 days of my ownership experience. I was on the freeway and started to notice a clicking sound the faster it went the louder and faster it became. I pulled off and quickly got onto some surface roads. The noise went away. Also I should note that the car never felt bad or different. It just made a noise.
Later when I got home I got under the car and discovered in an instant what the problem was... Due to really bald tires from the used car deler (not Aston). The entire inside tread near the sidewall was coming apart and I had metal cording that looked like small rope that had come out of the tire and was whipping around inside the tire well. Remarkably the stupid tire held air until the next day when I could limp it to Discount Tire. They had the OEM tires in stock and the total cost for all new OEM rubber was about $800.00 cheaper than at Aston Martin Vegas.

Check the tire pressure ... is the left rear a little low? That might give you a clue. With wide tires, you really have to have it off the hub to look for a puncture properly. Quick and dirty is to put some soapy water on it and look for bubbles ... but that would likely only work with a tire that is deflating fairly rapidly (which it does not sound like you have).

Check for any damage on the rubber boot. If its got a tear in it im almost certain its the CV joint than!
Hey Guys
Thanks for all the comments. Had the car on the ramp and the mechanic inspected all the cv boots , linkages, rubbers, tie rod bits etc on all 4 wheels. All are fine. We spun the from wheels and no noise occured. The rear wheels could not move very quickly ( yes handbrake was off
) when spun and when we heard nothing.
Rear tyres are low but no wires sticking out thankfully. I want one more track day out of the tyres first. However the rear brake pads are low to very low which could explain the clicking.
The mechanic doesnt think its a bearing because you tend to get a squeak and that happens especially on turning.
So going to change the rear pads and hopefully report back that all is well again but I do have some great looking Michellin Super Sports in the garage that I am tempted to just put on at the same time.
