My Ghost Stripe Project
I got samples of every color and texture of ScotchPrint 1080 film so I could pick and choose. The carbon is nice, but doesn't look right on the skin of an Aston IMO. Plus, I took off the blue stripe because I wanted something subtle: CF would not be subtle. If I get tired of the gray stripe I will probably do a satin black roof and the panel between the taillights next.

Ironically, even though I'm an Adobe Certified Expert and have been using Photoshop for about 2 decades, I do not use it to prototype my ideas. I get inspiration from pictures on the Internet or other owners (like Racer_X in the case of the stripe) or just visualize something in my head. I'm kind of an insomniac/night-owl, so while I lay awake in bed I'm either problem-solving or coming up with ideas.
To lay out the stripe I used a piece of string. I taped one end down at the front of the car, then stretched it out over the car in the taper I wanted and taped the other end down. I then used the string as a guide for laying down a guide line using painter's tape. I then laid down knifeless tape alongside the edge of the blue tape, removed the blue tape, put down the vinyl wrap, made the cuts, removed the excess vinyl and knifeless carrier, then used a rubber roller over the vinyl edges to increase adhesion.
When was done, I replaced the badges, center stop light, antenna and headliner (necessary to access the antenna). After a few hours: voilą, stripes!
