My Ghost Stripe Project

A couple of weeks ago I decided to put a stripe on my V8V. It was my first vinyl wrap project and the allure of the using the cool new blue brushed aluminum vinyl was hard to resist; it seemed like a good match for my interior mods. But after I was done, I decided that it was a bit too bold for my taste.

So off came the blue stripe. This time I used a matte gray aluminum metallic. My intent was to create a sort of ghost stripe look. The color is a good complement for Tungsten Silver. I just finished the project a few minutes ago and as you can see from some of the pictures, the stripe practically disappears from certain angles.

Comments positive or negative are welcome.

I will take better pictures at a later time and post them in this thread. It's almost morning here and I have to go to work soon but I never went to bed last night. Insomnia can be fun if you make the most of it.

Very nice KF! I like the idea of doing a color that doesn't contrast with the paint too much. Seems to fit a road-going Aston best. My stripe was brushed aluminum and complimented the Casino Royale gray pretty well. Did you happen to take pics of the blue stripe though? Would like to see it on the car. Also, can we see a pick of the Lotus?

Very nice. Subtle is always best on an Aston.

So, if I drive my Tungsten baby to Melborne, can I hang out in your garage all night putting a stripe on it?

Nice, can you take some pics outdoors? So when you say it was your first vinyl project, do you mean first time you applied yourself or first time you had a shop do it?

I posted pictures of the blue stripe last week here.

But for comparison's sake, here you go:

KF, I agree with Ibis... it looks subtle and suits the car very well... Can Ibis and I go to your garage and do the same with our cars now?

Missed the earlier reveal of the blue stripe. I agree that it just doesn't go as well as the silver.

Thanks for the Lotus shot. I've always like these older cars. Looks just like your avatar!

Blue is interesting, but over the top for me (and apparently for you as well). Silver is very subtle and very classy. Did you buy the striping kit pre-cut. If so, where did you get it?

No kit, I bought a 5ft wide roll of vinyl and created the stripe myself.
