Vantage lowering springs

Have any of you who have lowered a vantage, especially the S, measured exact drop after lowering? I am looking to drop my car 5/8 to a max of 3/4" and no more. Live in the mountains and can't deal with anything lower.
Appreciate any exact measurements and brands of lowering springs.

Hi Riverflyer, I lowered my Vantage on H&R springs, the front came down 1 3/4in and the rear 1in exactly. H&R does make a set of springs that aren't as low as the set I went with, they should put you right where you want to be.
Hope this info helps and good luck!

thanks Mario, I checked with Tire Rack about the H&R and they said there is only one lowering spring set for the coupe. Drops the car 3/4 which would be fine but wondering what set you got, as that much drop would not work with my roads.

Riverflyer,

I got my H&R springs from Tirerack and it did what they said; 3/4 drop all the way around. I have a steep driveway and entry to the garage, so I feel for you.

Mine is a 07 V8V.

Here are the before and after shots.

Rocketman, yes, great info, thanks. I live in a rural area and there are a lot of issues, none connected to making life with a lowered car easier!

How does your new setup handle your steep driveway? I have an S with the cf front spoiler so my clearance will be less than yours. What I really wanted was about 3/8 drop but I guess the only way to achieve that is coilovers.

Just curious, would anyone (besides your driveway) be able to notice a 3/8 inch drop?

Nobody but me and my favorite mountain roads! Its not the looks that is the issue but improved handling, although a small drop would still look better as well.

My 997 GT3 had a front spoiler that was black plastic and replaceable. Obviously the cf lip is not a $110 replacement so I am being conservative. I am going to tape something on the lip that hangs down 3/4 of an inch and try some of my usual suspect driveways.

I had the H&R springs on my V8VS (and now on my V12V) and they dropped it about 1" after settleling (see pics below). Keep in mind the wheel gap seems less due to my 20" HRE wheels vs. the 19" OEM's.

All I can say is with the CF lip, learn to angle in/out of driveways and use the parking sensors as they also work for front clearance. I also had a custom aluminum skidplate made for my V12V since it's slightly lower.

I thought you just moved your wheels from the V8VS to the V12V. But for some reason they look way shinier in the latter. Did you get them refinished?

LOL I did. I think it's mainly a combination of weather and lighting conditions along with a full cleaning and waxing on the wheels.

Yes, used to angling in and out but sometimes thats not enough and you either have to walk or not go.
It looks like, the pic of the 12 your alum skidpad covers the entire splitter underside, is that correct?
How is it attached?
thanks

btw, can you tell me fr and rear tire sizes. I just ordered some Adv. 1 wheels through Stuart in 20" and trying to dial in tire sizes that I know will fit.

I have a brand new set of H&R Springs in the box for my 2007 Vantage (3/4" drop) and I don't think I'm going to drop the car after-all - so I'll sell them for $ 400 + shipping if anyone wants them - never even out of the box.

We have so many driveway transition aprons here in Virginia that I think I best stay stock height.

The skidplate is attached via the mounting holes on the CF front splitter and via 3M doublesided tape. As for the tire sizes:

20"x9" 255/30 Fronts , 20"x11" 305/25 Rears

My Porsche is even lower than the AM, but that means nothing...they both scrape!

Don't lower if you are too worried about scraping. I would change your swaybars to something thicker. I wonder if the swaybars on the GT4 would fit an older Vantage.

The front looks to be able to take a "speedway" style swaybar and you could always opt for adjustable arms to dial in your handling. Price will be in the $700+ range, but I know where you drive and it will be money well spent.
