Pricing on 2012

I'm considering a V8VS with 2,000 miles. It was likely a demo, but owner of dealership claims it was his car. Total suggested retail is $151,580, (including delivery, piano black, premium audio, 19" V spoke graphite, etc.). Dealer is asking $118,000, and I'm having trouble getting credible used value. Anyone have a recent comp or educated guess? Dealer also has a 2013 with 100 miles with MSRP of $154,350 asking $137,000. Since i was told there's little difference between the two, I don't see the $19K difference.

I appreciate your input.

Forgot to mention that the dealer said these asking prices include a manufacturer's $5K reduction for production of a current registration on a German luxury car, which I have.

Hard to believe there haven't been any recent purchases of a 2012 V8VS

Not entirely sure which question you are asking.

Is 118k a good price for a 2,000mi 2012? It seems about right. The usual listing sites suggest that the mid teens is about what dealers want for a pre-owned, '12 S with low miles. I wouldn't expect to get it for any less than 115.

Why $19k more for the new one? Cuz new I guess.

Actually, I don't see that many listed. It just seems to me that the car is two model years old and has been driven and, intuitively, that seems like about 30% depreciation on a high end car not known for high resale value.

Price seems about right. ForeignCars is asking $122k for one with a few hundred miles.

I've been watching pre-owned V8VS listings for several months now. Color and spec seem to have a big impact on price. An orange one was asking around $105 while a black one is over $120. Sounds like you think it should be lower than the $118.
What color(s) is it?
How much do you think it should be?

When the 2014's roll into the showrooms, 2012 (and 2013) prices should drop. I know that's what happens with Porsches. I think color makes a difference, but only to the extent that it's an oddball. A special order exterior or interior in a strange color would have to be heavily discounted to sell, but a wide range of colors (grays, silvers, white, black, red and even blue and green) should all be priced at about the same number. The one I'm looking at is gray on black. If the dealer is at $118K (asking price), I should think he can drop another 10%, at least. Getting real world numbers is hard with low volume cars, and asking prices are all over the place. A dealer in Vegas is asking $139K for the same car -- 2 years old!

The factory gives the dealers money to help move the year old cars. I bought my knew 2012 in 2013 and they had over 20000 from the factory to help lower the price. Its up to the dealer how much he gives you to help the deal close.

There seem to be 2014's out there already. I think 20k off list on a new car is good, but on convertibles I've seen up to 40. Two problems with a used car is when the warranty started and since they knew they weren't keeping it, how did they drive it.

It just seems that $20K off on a two year old car with 2,000 mi. is nothing. I'm sure it depreciates at least 20-30% in two years. In my case the warranty has 2 years left. It's an automatic manual and I understand it's programmed to prohibit break-in over-reving.

You are correct my car had a sticker of 179,900 and I paid 144,500 out the door so 40,000 off for a new year old car is reasonable.
